Romans 8:17-28
Secular:
- Josh was just 2 when we found out Lisa was pregnant…
- We were excited…
- Lisa said this was it… one more
- I said if this was it… it was twins…
- I remember when we were told it was twins...
- After the shock wore off… and Lisa stopped beating on me for praying for twins…
- I was so excited…
- We knew it was a girl and a boy…
- I was excited about my second son… and really looking forward to my like princess…
- When Luke and Bethany were born…
- Luke was first… 5 ½ hours of labour
- Head first… all went well.
- Then Bethany…
- She followed Luke by seven minutes…
- But she was feet first and the umbilical cord was around her neck…
- We could hold Luke… he was given Lisa right after his birth… snuggled in against her…
- Bethany was whisked away…
- We had Luke to love… cuddle and hold…
- But I ached for Bethany…
- I sat beside her incubator… reached in the side and held her tiny hand…
- I ached for the minute we could take her out of there…. Ached to know it was going to be okay… ached for the day we would take her home…
- I ached…
- As believers we ache… and groan… as we wait for the fullness of our relationship with Christ…
- We have something now… wonderful… beautiful… but we want it completely and fully…
Biblical:
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.
Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Rom 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.
Rom 8:20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope
Rom 8:21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
Rom 8:23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for {our} adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
Rom 8:24 For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he {already} sees?
Rom 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
Rom 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for {us} with groanings too deep for words;
Rom 8:27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to {the will of} God.
Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to {His} purpose.

Glory Groanings
Rom 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.

- Creation groans under sin… mountains, rivers, animals, plants… strive to thrive… effect of sin… the curse…
- And the Longing… NAU Isaiah 65:17 "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind.

- Believer Groans It is coming… revealed in NAU Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory*.

Glory Guaranteed
Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to {His} purpose.
· God has a plan… and he is unchanging
· Faithful… trustworthy…
· In his plan and purpose he set us aside… called us his children…
· Redeemed
· Justified
· Sanctified
· And promises to glorify!
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.
