It is important to listen to their story and to tell our story, but if we never transition into telling the Jesus story, we are not evangelists; we are story tellers.

How do you transition from your story to the story of Jesus?

After you have told your story, ask something like: “Would you like to hear a story that explains my story?”
You will want to say something like, “It is a story about Jesus from some of the original eyewitness accounts. It will take only one or two minutes.”

Tell a Story About Jesus

Tell a story about Jesus from one of the New Testament Gospels.
T
Paraphrase the story in your own words (you don’t have to memorize the story).
Use stories that match your testimony and clearly express the Gospel
If your past sins haunted you and guilt kept you from Christ, you might want to tell the story of the Samaritan woman at the well in or the story of the woman caught in adultery in .
If you ran away from God and lived a sinful life of riotous living, tell the story of the Prodigal son in
I thought I had to be perfect and the very best at whatever I did, so the story of Nicodemus resonates with me.
John 3:3 ESV
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Ask Follow-up Questions

After the Jesus story, ask non-threatening Questions:
What did you like in that story?
What is hard to understand?
Emphasize that there are no right or wrong answers
After asking general questions, ask more probing questions:
What does the story teach us about Jesus?
What does the story want us to do?
The objective is to generate conversation about the Gospel
Resist the temptation to correct their answers
You are trying to create curiosity
Try to answer questions with questions to keep them talking

Will you commit yourself to a life of Evangelism?

Matthew 28:19 ESV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
“Evangelism is not a one-time activity that interrupts our normal lives. Nor is it simply an event that our church adds to its calendar.”

Do we care?
Do you care enough to tell them?
Studies show that 1 out of 5 teenagers never read their Bible at all in a given year.
Do you love God?
Have you experienced His grace?
Because if you have, your heart will break that 10,000 people within 15 miles of you will lay there head down tonight and are uncertain of where they will wake up.
If you have experienced His grace you will desire to share what He did to those who have never experienced it.
You will want to read the Bible because you want to know how to show it to those people.
