The Christian should resolve to set their hope fully on Christ (course of action)

The Christian should resolve to set their hope fully on Christ (course of action)

This is done by preparing their minds
Literal gird up your loins, be ready
For us today, beware of false security
be watchful that your hope is not placed else where.
watch yourself, that you are not backsliding into your former ingnorance
pray for God to continue to uphold you steadfastly.
Prepare: be in scripture seeking the truths that are from God, so that you are not swept away by lust of the flesh
Be Sober minded
Meditate upon Jesus
Think on holy things, Jesus
Surround yourself with Holy images
Do not look to things that muddle your mind to not be looking to Christ always. We can get caught up in Snapchat, insta, tiktock, fortnight, or netflix.
Surround yourself with other Christians, you will fall into peer pressure of conforming back to their way.

The Christian should resolve to be obedient

disciplines us Hebrew 12
disciplines us Hebrew 12

is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

4. Loving
he has provided for us.
Obedience is shown by not going back to the former way of life but rather continuing in the grace that has been shown already.
We should resolve to continue to obey Jesus because our hope is fully on him. That he has justified us, that he is lord over us, and that he hold us up.

Christians should resolve to imitate God’s holiness

God calls his people to be holy
set apart from the world
shown in how they are differnt, going back to not being conformed to the former ignorance.
Israel Leviticus
He calls them to be holy because he is holy
Righteous
without sin
pure
blameless
free of guilt
how do we accomplish this (piper)

As we see above by preparing our minds and having them on Christ because we have set our hope on Christ we are able to be saintified.
God’s grace
The way that we are able to do this be holy is because of grace.
God’s power
God is the one that begins the good work and he sees it to completion
Faith
We have faith that God has the power to bring us to holiness
Resolve
we act out in our will to accomplish this matter through devotion to God. human act but God’s grace
our work
our mind, will, hands actors of the deed God’s grace flowing through our faith and resolve.
Fulflled
We do this in anticipation of Christ return, so that we are not found lacking
Jesus is glorified
Jesus is the one who has brought this grace to us, so that we have the ability to strive for holiness as a child of God. for once we were cut off and now we have been grafted into the body of Christ.
