Been talking about Grace (my next book)
John 4:1-26
Some crazy truths come from this interchange- about faith and Jesus. Some of our greatest teachings.
Living Water- The Spirit of God satisfying us.
Worship in Spirit and truth-
I can preach so many sermons from these verses… such foundations of our faith.
How about this one: I am the Messiah-
John the baptist- the best, the most righteous of his time
Are you the messiah? in Matthew 11:3
Jesus answered - the blind see, the blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprocy are cleansed, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
This woman asks- there is a coming Messiah-
Jesus answers I am He
Plain and clear, easy to digest and receive.
God knows.
Who is this character?
Goes to get water by herself at the heat of the day-
Noone else does that. Why does she… ?
Super disqualified!
Woman
Samaritan
Character- adulterer and fornicator
Look at how Jesus calls this out: Her worst fear
He exposes her-
Have you ever been exposed?
It does something to you…
What if the exposer already honored you more than anyone else ever had?
vs 39-42
Look at this transformed life-
Now she becomes the earliest evangelist.
An entire village, once they scorned her, now she is the reason that they know Jesus.
BUT GOD
You too are disqualified.
Sexual immorality
Drug and alcohol abuse
Abortion
Evil words of others.
Judgmental/critical spirits
Cursing of God
Adultery
Thievery
This is who you were, before you walked into this room…
When you were young, you knew you wanted to be great, but life got real and your life got out of control. You did that. Your choices.
But What if? What if you could still be great?
with Jesus all things are possible.
This morning- pleading to accept
Will you accept? Will you change your life? Will you be new creation? Please? Eternity depends on it.
We invite you to a deeper thing…
