YOU AND JESUS

The Bible has much to say about Who Jesus is:

He is eternal

John 1:1–2 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.

He is the Creator

John 1:3 NKJV
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

He became “flesh

John 1:14 KJV 1900
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
What do you think that means?

He is absolutely sinless

Hebrews 4:14–15 NASB95
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 teaches something else about Jesus. It says that He loves us as His creatures. How did He demonstrate His love for us?
1 Peter 3:18 NASB95
18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
When did Christ die once for sins?
If Christ is sinless, then for whose sins did He die?
I Peter 3:18 teaches that Christ died, “the just for the unjust.” Who is the “just” (righteous) One?
Who are the “unjust” (unrighteous) ones?
According to I Peter 3:18 why did Jesus die?
1 Corinthians 15:3 KJV 1900
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Corinthians 15:4 KJV 1900
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
1 Corinthians 15:5–7 NASB95
5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles;
According to I Corinthians 15:5-7 who were the witnesses to Christ’s resurrection?
1 Corinthians 15:14 KJV 1900
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
1 Corinthians 15:17 NKJV
17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!
According to I Corinthians 15:14, 17- what two words are used to describe someone’s faith if Christ had not risen from the dead?

YOU AND SALVATION

John 14:6 KJV 1900
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
What does the Bible say, in John 14:6, is the only way to live forever with the Father?
John 1:12 KJV 1900
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
What must you do to become a child of God in John 1:12?
How can you receive Jesus Christ and His gift of salvation?

There are two simultaneous aspects to receiving Christ

1. You must repent of your sins

Acts 3:19 NASB95
19 “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
What does Acts 3.19 require for your sins to be forgiven?
1 Thessalonians 1:9 KJV 1900
9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
I Thessalonians 1:9 defines repentance and conversion as turning “to God from idols to serve the living and true God.”
Matthew 1:21 ESV
21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
According to Matthew 1:21 what does Jesus save people from?
Isaiah 55:7 ESV
7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55:7 gives a clear picture of repentance. Explain it in your own words:

2. You must trust in Jesus Christ alone

Acts 16:30–31 NKJV
30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
What answer is given in Acts 16:31 on how to be saved?
John 3:36 ESV
36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
In John 3:36 the Bible divides all of humanity into two groups—there is no middle ground. How do the two groups respond to Christ?
What happens to each of these groups?
1 John 5:13 KJV 1900
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
