Vision for the Future… trouble is coming…

These things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
*  Jesus has talked about his role as the Son of God… that He and the Father are one… that He is the Lord of Creation and of Judgement… and the Jewish leaders want him dead…
*  But Jesus isn’t sharing this to scare the disciples…
* He has been warning them of the events of his death that are yet to unfold….
* Warning because the greatest danger for followers isn’t death… its apostasy… turning away from their faith.
*  They don’t have a right understanding… vision of God… they have not known the Father or Jesus….
*  Jesus anchors them in a right understanding of who He is… His Mission… His Father…
·         Isaiah 6:1 In the year of King Uzziah's death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple.
2 Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
3 And one called out to another and said, "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory." 4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke.
5 Then I said, "Woe is me, for I am ruined!
Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

* 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined to *know* *nothing* among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified
*  Vision is our defence against trouble… because death is not our enemy but non-belief and apostasy
 
 
Vision for the Future… God’s Plan…

*  Cut your finger while making dinner and we grimace and squirm… we think I don’t want to do that again…
* But we will sign up for surgery to fix something… by cutting us open, causing pain… all for the hope of a better future…
* A Vision of God sees that too…
* That whatever pain we endure in the short term… we recognize the nature of God…
* As loving
* As compassionate
* Merciful
* As redeeming
* Not loosing sight of who God is and our hope in him…
*  Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes *all* *things* to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to /His /purpose.
*  Jesus said I am moving on… that was the plan from the beginning… and even though your not saying anything… you are not happy…
* But let me tell you…
* It is to YOUR advantage that I go…
* The work of the cross is ahead…
* And the promised Holy Spirit is to come
