It started in Genesis and continues today, what can Saul teach us about hiding among our baggage?
Prayer
O keep me while I tarry on this earth, in daily serious breathings after you, and in a believing, affectionate walking with you: and when you come, O let me be found so doing, not hiding my talent, nor serving my flesh, nor yet asleep with my lamp unfurnished, but waiting and longing for my Lord’s return.

Saul tells the truth but not the whole truth...
maybe Saul does not really want this calling…

This is not the kind of speech you would expect before the calling of a King…

Are you hiding in the baggage?
sinner
because you love your baggage
because you are ignorant of the things of God
because you are afraid of taking responsibility
the crown to come
saint
because you are mistaken about your salvation
because you are a lazy servant
because the kingdom has lost its splendor to you
because you are managing the good with neglecting the great
When you come to die it will be a sore matter of regret to you that you did not serve your Master more.
I never heard of a Christian who died lamenting he had done too much for Christ, been too earnest, too indefatigable, and so had shortened his life.
There have been men who have shortened their lives for Christ, but even when chidden by their friends they have only gone on working still, and have rejoiced to die for his dear sake.
Are you retrieving others from their baggage?
[long live the King!]
