Paul is talking to

Paul starts off with the word ( bondservant/Slave) which in today’s society can be taken as if Paul is addressing the slaves of the civil war!

Slaves that picked cotton, slaves that was killed for not completing the right amount of work, or sold to another plantation, Paul is addressing the Roman Empire.

More than 1/3 of the Roman population empire was bond servants.

There are servants all through the Bible (Ex.)

Paul is addressing here the principles in the passage is applying in today in terms of submission to any lawful authority.

Which includes our JOBS!

The verse starts out by calling us bondservants obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling.

A lot of times we become so tied up in worldly jobs that we forget who the real boss is, we forget why God opened the door for us to be in the position that we are in!

Jeffrey Pleffer, an organizational behavior professor at Stanford who wrote the book “Dying for a paycheck” which talked about how there has been 120k deaths related to working under stress and not being able to reach the company goals.

Instead of depending on God to get you to where you need to be.

So this brings back to Mind are we people pleasers or Bondservants?

One of the main reason that we have so much stress and anxiety is due to US doing the job for all the wrong reason.

We have to come to the fact that we are doing this for Christ and for that reason we should give it everything we have, yes at times there will be struggles and frustration.

In order to move past that we have move from the flesh ( taking over your, thoughts, your physical and start to become a chronic issuse that will end up taking you away from what God intended for you have!
