Group Discussion
1. Scott started off the sermon discussing the reason why we are reviewing the foundations of the church. He referenced, Psalm 78:1-4; 2 Timothy 2:2. How have you approached teaching the next generation the truth of God? (These are commands from God)
2. What are some examples that you have of how you do this? (Prayer, Catechism, Family Devotions)
3. Scott discussed almost 6 different and powerful statements at the beginning of the service:
3.1 To walk in reality is to walk in a way that is mindful of the kingdom of God on earth.
3.2 The worship service is a reflection of a rightly ordered life in all aspects of life.
3.3 The Worship of God is a gift, secured by Jesus Christ blood on the cross.

3. Scott discussed almost 6 different and powerful statements at the beginning of the service:
Rebecca Bales - relationship with Dad
3.1 To walk in reality is to walk in a way that is mindful of the kingdom of God on earth.
Kafoure - share the gospel
3.2 The worship service is a reflection of a rightly ordered life in all aspects of life.
3.3 The Worship of God is a gift, secured by Jesus Christ blood on the cross.
4. When you think of worship what comes to mind? (Style, sound, denomination)
5. Why is it so important to be mindful of peoples hearts and emotions when it comes to worship? (We do not want to be manipulative, but instead create a time and place, for us to gather as the body for the Holy Spirit to move within our hearts.)
6. Why is it so important to have a specific time, like what is reflected in verse 2? (; )
7. tells us why we worship and how did we get here. What are ways that verses 3-5 describe about who God is? (Because the Lord is God, and has made himself known through his Word, that is made manifest in Christ Jesus - ;
8. What are ways, or verses that you reference to be able to share who God is? What books have you read, that help you have a better understanding of who God is? (Arthur Pink; Keith Knell, Stephen Charnock)
9. Scott read from his journal on Sunday, and what struck me, is he took the specific, (every thought) and he applied it to the truth of God. Do you tend to pray through the generalization of sin, or the specific and intimate sin in your life?
10. Scott stated that if we are not specific with our sins, and presenting them specifically to the Lord, then we are a caffeinated child, never satisfied and always whining, and that in effect we dethrone God from his central role in our life. How do you see this reflected in your life?
11. In the context of this, we see God’s cosmic power - we see God’s intimate relationship with the woman at the well, and God is beautiful.
12. Psalm 100:4 - Know that the Lord is good, and his steadfast love endures forever. What is important to know about the goodness of God, and the love of God? (NOT Generic, NOT Emotions but instead it is a commitment, and a pledge)
12.1 If God pledges this he is bound and committed to a certain people! HIS PEOPLE!
12.2 Do you ever take time to sit down and specifically think about the hard things, and meditate on God’ goodness in the hard time?
13. Verse 3 - Lastly why do we worship - Because he made us and we are His.
13.1 What did God do to bring us to worship? (Reread verse 3 - see Christ)
13.2 is possible because of Christ.
