Christians Should Never Give Up - Acts 17:10-15

Introduction:

Question: Do we have what Paul's Team had?

Four Points Concerning Today's Message:

I. The Night Escape. - L. v.10

A. Jason and friends showed bravery. - L- v.10

B. The escape was more than saving preachers. - L- v.10b

II. The Bereans Were God Seeking People. - L - v.11

A. They received the truth. - L- v.11a

B. They searched the scriptures. - L- v. 11b

"Searched" means to evaluate as a Judge would.

Question: How can a Christian know God's Word well enough to use it effectively?

1) The prerequisite for Bible Study starts by confessing one's sins. - I Peter 2:1-2

2) Bible Study involves being diligent. - II Timothy 2:15

3) We must practice the truth we learn. - James 1:22

4) Share what we learn with other believers. - II Timothy 2:2

III. The Bereans Were Noble People. - L - v.11-12

"Noble people" are receptive and open to the truth.

A. They had well-balanced temperaments.

B. They showed respect.

C. They were honest and decisive. - L- v.12; L- John 8:31,32

IV. The Bereans Were Courageous And Helpful. - L - v.13-14

A. Thessalonica enemies of the Gospel came to stop Paul. - L- v.13

Lesson: Before we try to stop someone's ministry, make sure it is not the work of God.

B. The Bereans were protective. - L- v.14; Galatians 6:2

Lesson: Believers must stand together, help and encourage wherever there is a need.

Conclusion: FOUR POINTS OF INTEREST

1. We all need Christian friends. - L- v.10a, 14

2. If we will present the Gospel, there will be people who receive it. - L- v.10b-11a

3. The Gospel of Christ is open to all. - L- v.12

4. The Gospel will have resistance. - L- v.13
