Peter’s response to Jesus
After Jesus was arrested, Peter denied Christ three times when asked if he was a disciples.
But despite his failure, upon seeing Jesus, Peter plunged into the sea and swam to Jesus.
When we mess up, it can be tempting to stay away from God, to hide from Him.
But when we mess up, we shouldn’t run away from God, we should run to Him!
The fire of coals
What is the signifance of this fire of coals?
The last time we read of a fire of coals in John’s gospel is when Peter denied Jesus.
The presence of coals of fire on the land was reminder to Peter that Jesus knew what Peter had done.
But yet, on those same coals was breakfast that the Lord Himself had made for them.
Jesus wasntd to fellowship with Peter, despite what he had done.
Jesus knows your past but wants to fellowship with you anyway.
Jesus didn't bring up Peter's past to condemn him.
He brought it up to restore him.
And an essential part of restoration is knowing that God accepts you, even though you have messed up:
Jesus’ request for fish
Jesus already had fish.
But he asked them to bring theirs.
Jesus wants your contribution
The net didn’t break
The net didn't break.
In life, there may have been many things that should have broken us.
But when Jesus is with us, our net will not break.
God gives us strength to endure...
Note “But”.
We must not depend on people for our strength.
We must receive the strenght that comes only from God.
