I. Recap
The tongue (last week)
What is it
The literal purpose of the tongue
One day, an African chief told one of his servants to bring him the best meat from the market. The servant bought him a tongue. The next day the chief told the servant to bring him the worst meat from the market. The servant bought him a tongue again.
“what is this?” asked the chief. “For when I ask you to bring me the best meat, you bring me a tongue. And when I asked for the worse meat you bring me a tongue, what is this?”
The servant answers the chief, “sometimes a man is very unhappy because of his tongue and sometimes his tongue makes very happy.”
“you are very right,” said the chief. Let us be the masters of our tongue.”
Father God, move me out of the way and have your way with the sermon. Take it in the way you want it to go and to be delivered the way that you want it delivered.

Isaiah 6:1–8 ESV
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
I
Isaiah 50:4 ESV
The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.
God wakes him up every morning
shows him how to use his tongue
teaches him how to use his tongue
so that every word is ordained with the mind of Christ
This leads to being filled with the spirit
Ephesians 5:18 ESV
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
drunk
filled with the spirit
acting out of normality
do you realize that you can be around dirt and filt so long that you can get use to having it around and so that you do not even know the difference
Isaiah 6:1–7 ESV
And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”
the words of your mouth can be the problem
how you speak can be the problem
we can speak life or death
and most of the time we use that gift
that member opposite of the way that the HS initially intended
see the problem with that is that when you use your moth the opposite way that your mouth was intended to
the opposite way that the father intended for it to be used......
And when your mouth is used opposite to the way of the father
His way is not being worked through your words, do not expect it to work out
I mean the problem is that we can fuss for years and we complain about the present situations that we are in but they never change
see the whole problem is
are you ready for this
But because God was never in the conversation in the first place
since the word carried no heavenly content
that God didn’t change anything
your words were not his
You wanna know why things don’t change i bet
we think that the moment that we become or think that we become his that everything is suppose to change for the better
we question and fuss to God because we never see a change
Everything remains the same or even gets worse
See we do the same thing to Him that our children do to us
they talk while we’re talking
every experience that as a parent?
Isaiah 6:6 ESV
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar.
Confess
the angel took the coals off the altar
hot coals, those are hot, t
they hurt
they burnt the sins away
they burnt away the evil talk
Isaiah 6:7 ESV
And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”
your sins are forgiven
what is the importance of that?
well it is important because of verse 8
Isaiah 6:8 ESV
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
isa 6:8
He recieved instructions from the HS
He can now move forward
He is now open to the voice of the God telling him what to say
VII. My 17th point
A. Probably my most important point
So pay attention
matter of fact write it down
B. But your tongue can block you from getting direction from your Father
C. Your tongue can block you from getting divine guidance
See many of us have a Run DMC spirit
we talk to much and we never shut up
we want to do the talking
we know whats best
so if you know so much and want to talk for your self, then go ahead and guide yourself
then go ahead and guide yourself
But if you want the mind of Christ
You want the Father guiding your thoughts
your speech
let the HS tame that little tongue
God knows that you can not do it yourself
Untamed the tongue is a fire
a world of unrighteousness
Watch what you say
Because that little member has a small bark but a very big bite
that little member can direct a whole ship
can direct your whole life
a cruise ship either directing you to either to heaven or hell
James 3:5–6 ESV
So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.
allow the HS, to tame that member and be mature in speech
quick to hear, slow to speak and thus slow to act
But be mature and allow every thought to be captive to obey christ

altar call/closing
Numbers 6:24–26 ESV
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
