Desperation

Opening
I want to take the next 8 minutes to share, In this next 8 minutes I ask that you would be just remain open for God to speak to You through these words.
Pray
As the date for this worship night approached, I had no clue on what to say. I had a topic in mind which was Desperation, I didn’t know what I could say or even what I would find that could be considered a great message.
As weeks would go past I would pray and ask God what to say, what to read. What was happening in the weeks to past I was looking for something that would be perfect, and would be great but, I started to realize that I was running out of time! With this in mind I started to do some crazy things. I started to read the bible. I started to read and read, and read until I was just unable to read.
The Deepening of the Desperation
With this I realized that I had become desperate to not only offer a Perfect word or message but I was desperate not to fail. In the process of me being desperate to find a great message I looked at two Scriptures one of them was . This Scripture talks about a woman that needed healing. In the 21st Verse it reads 21 For she kept saying to herself, “If I could only touch his prayer shawl I would be healed.”
What so important about this verse is that it demonstrates desperation in a positive light. It shows that she knew that if she cold just get close enough to touch God’s Son Jesus she would be healed. In the next verse it reads, 22 Just then Jesus turned around and looked at her and said, “My daughter, be encouraged. Your faith has healed you.” And instantly she was healed!
21 For she kept saying to herself, “If I could only touch his prayer shawl I would be healed.”
The Turnaround
When I had gone back to the scripture I had to look at myself. I asked the question was I desperate enough for God? Was I desperate enough to go to him when I was in need? I had to look deep within to realize what I had been filling myself with so many other things that wasn’t allowing me to be desperate with God and that it was a distraction. When I looked at what the woman here is what I found.
22 Just then Jesus turned around and looked at her and said, “My daughter, be encouraged. Your faith has healed you.” And instantly she was healed!
It was because the woman accepted Jesus as her savior she was able to be healed.
It was because of her knowing that Jesus had the power to heal her.
It was because of her desperation and her faith that Jesus healed her.
Many of us have the same struggle we are desperate to fill ourselves so we don’t feel empty or to offer something great. In the next few songs I want to invite you to think about these two questions.
It was because of her knowing that Jesus had the power to heal her,
What are you filling yourself with?
Are these things keeping you from being desperate for God?
It was because the woman accepted Jesus as her savior she was able to be healed.
If you are struggling and want prayer we have some people in the back of the room that want to pray with you so that you can be set free from these things, weather they are Addictions, Sin, and Thoughts, or anything else.
