In last week’s passage, Jesus had been crucified...
Focus vers:
Notice - “secretly, for fear of the Jews”.
God has not called us to live in fear!
There are various situations we can face in life that could cause us to fear.
But in this message, I want to share 5 reasons we shouldn’t live in fear...
1. God is with us!
The king of Syria sent a great army to arrest the prophet Elisha...
Again, when the king of Assyria invaded Judah, king Hezekiah said to his captains:
With God you are always in the majority.
No matter what situtation we face, we can say, “those who are with us, are more than those who are with them”!
"Is anything too hard from the Lord?”
(Genesis 18:14 NKJV)
Not only is God with us, but...
2. God will never leave us
Sometimes we may not feel like God is with us.
But He is!
Consider God’s encounter with the prophet Elisha when he wsa feeling quite low...
God's presence was not in the wind, earthquake or fire, but was in the gentle whisper.
Elijah had to learn that we should not focus on what we can see or hear.
We should know that God is with even when nothing spectacular is happening.
3. God is a provider
Paul in response to Philippians supplying his need:
4. God is a refuge
I.e. a place providing safety and shelter:
Not only does God keep us from physical harm, but also form mental harm:
5. God is a deliverer
When Paul wrote the to the Corinthians about the trouble he encountered in the course of his ministry, he said...
Paul’s testimony was simply: God delivered us, He does deliver us, and He will deliver us!
May we walk in the same confidence!
Summary
We should not fear because:
God is with us
God will never leave us
God is a provider
God is a refuge
God is a deliverer
