                                                                              Safe with the Savior                         7/20/08 a.m.

                       The Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

Ps 91:1-16   1     He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

     Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2     I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;

     My God, in Him I will trust.”

3     Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler

     And from the perilous pestilence.

4     He shall cover you with His feathers,

     And under His wings you shall take refuge;

     His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

5     You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,

     Nor of the arrow that flies by day,

6     Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,

     Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

7     A thousand may fall at your side,

     And ten thousand at your right hand;

     But it shall not come near you.

8     Only with your eyes shall you look,

     And see the reward of the wicked.

9     Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,

     Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

10     No evil shall befall you,

     Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

11     For He shall give His angels charge over you,

     To keep you in all your ways.

12     In their hands they shall bear you up,

     Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

13     You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,

     The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14     “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;

     I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

15     He shall  call upon Me, and I will answer him;

     I will be  with him in trouble;

     I will deliver him and honor him.

16     With long life I will satisfy him,

     And show him My salvation.”

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High is secure

1     He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

      Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

  1. dwells in the secret place— denotes nearness to God.

  1. He who dwells near to God---is under the protection of God

Ps 31:20 20     You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence

     From the plots of man;

     You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion

     From the strife of tongues.

Those that dwell close to the Lord can say;

 2     I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;

                                                 My God, in Him I will trust.”

 Jas 1:25   . 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Those that abide in the Lord & His Word are safe from snares and assaults

3     Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler

     And from the perilous pestilence.

To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of David When Doeg the Edomite Went and Told Saul, and Said to Him, “David Has Gone to the House of Ahimelech.”

Ps 52:1-7 1     Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man?

     The goodness of God endures continually.

2     Your tongue devises destruction,

     Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

3     You love evil more than good,

     Lying rather than speaking righteousness.      Selah

4     You love all devouring words,

     You deceitful tongue.

5     God shall likewise destroy you forever;

     He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place,

     And uproot you from the land of the living.      Selah

6     The righteous also shall see and fear,

     And shall laugh at him, saying,

7     “Here is the man who did not make God his strength,

     But trusted in the abundance of his riches,

     And strengthened himself in his wickedness.”

Ps 37:39-40

9     But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;

     He is their strength in the time of trouble.

40     And  the Lord shall help them and deliver them;

     He shall deliver them from the wicked,

     And save them,

      Because they trust in Him.

Even though ten thousand evil men fall beside you, you remain safe

7     A thousand may fall at your side,   And ten thousand at your right hand;  But it shall not come near you. 8Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.

Ps 37:34  34     Wait on the Lord,  And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit

                          the land; When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

9     Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,

     Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

10      No evil shall befall you,

     Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

11     For He shall give His angels charge over you,

     To keep you in all your ways.

12     In their hands they shall bear you up,

      Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
