Have you ever had to be rescued… my B2200

We want our friends rescued… we don’t want people hurt… we don’t want people left behind…

Biblical:

Acts 3:19 Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins.

20 Then wonderful times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will send Jesus your Messiah to you again.

21 For he must remain in heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things, as God promised long ago through his prophets.

22 Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up a Prophet like me from among your own people.

Listen carefully to everything he tells you.' 23 Then Moses said, 'Anyone who will not listen to that Prophet will be cut off from God's people and utterly destroyed.'

24 "Starting with Samuel, every prophet spoke about what is happening today.

25 You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors.

For God said to Abraham, 'Through your descendants all the families on earth will be blessed.'

26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways."

Personal:

Divorce is when two people in who were very much in love allowed something or someone come between them…

God is very much in love with us… but we let “having a good time or living for ourselves” come between that great love… God is hurt and wants us reconciled… get it back together… (pain every child feels is like the church)

Bridge:

Good built the bridge… we need only to cross!

Body:

 

A change:

The need of a rescuer…

* The world’s way

* Satisfied in Wealth

* Satisfied in Self-Actualization

* Me first!!

* Versus God and others

* Offence against the good God has intended for us and the relationship he desires…

* Injurious behaviour to someone close

* Resulted in a divorce

* Strong desire to reconcile!!

* Clean Slate

* Vellum, no acid ink… symbolic washed clean

* No bickering for days weeks and month to come!!

* Isn’t wonderful that our rescuer doesn’t harass us with our past mistakes…

* Perfectly reconcile… everything is good!

The Kingdom… now and not yet…

20 Then wonderful times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will send Jesus your Messiah to you again.

* The benefits are good now and in the future

* Like buying an RRSP

* Tax Relief

* Long-term benefit

* Immediately living with a purpose and with peace

* Enjoy the eternal promises of God

* Goodness in God’s presence

* Perfectly reconciled… now and forever

 

Judgment Avoided

22 Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up a Prophet like me from among your own people.

24 "Starting with Samuel, every prophet spoke about what is happening today.

* What’s happening today…

* People are hedging their bet

* Standing on the line… hoping to decide at the last moment

* Unfortunately we don’t always get the opportunity…

* Josh voting for… winning team in the 3rd period!

* He wanted to avoid the trials and tribulations of supporting a looser

* We can avoid the penalty… the trials and tribulations of supporting a looser because Jesus was and is victorious…

* Perfectly reconciled… no fear of the future

 

Blessing Will Be Revealed

25 You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors.

For God said to Abraham, 'Through your descendants all the families on earth will be blessed.'

26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways."

* Promise, covenant by God…  to the numerous offspring of Abraham

* Heb 11:12 12 And so a whole nation came from this one man, *Abraham*, who was too old to have any *children*-- a nation with so many people that, like the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.

* God’s desire is to bless…

* God’s desire is to draw us close

* God’s desire is to have us as children… children of the Promise

* Perfectly reconciled… held by promise

* Perfectly reconciled… for blessing

 

 

Conclusion:

Perfectly reconciled… everything is good!

(Clean Slate)

Perfectly reconciled… now and forever (today and tomorrow)

Perfectly reconciled… no fear of the future (no judgement)

Perfectly reconciled… held by promise (God’s Word, hope and security… world fades)

Perfectly reconciled… for blessing (God wants to show love… to us and those we impact)
