Give testimony about growing up with no hair. How even though you were missing a big part of outward appearance, it didn’t stop you from working out. It’s crazy how something missing and out of the norm, actually sets you apart and gives you character you would have normally never received.

Shamgar the son of Anath

Judges 3:31 KJV 1900

31 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.

Shamgar lived in a time when -

In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Shamgar was a farmer. We can make this assumption cause he carried an ox goad.

An ox goad was a sharp stick up to eight feet long tapering to a sharp point, which may have been tipped with metal.

Shamgar did not have a Pedigree - Shamgar was a foreigner

Shamgar is not a normal Hebrew name and the ascription son of Anath suggests that he was or had been a follower of Anath, the Canaanite goddess of war. Never the less, none of this stopped him from being a part of God’s Plan.

Shamgar didn’t have much, and he was a foreigner. Yet none of this got in the way of him doing exactly what God needed him too. Shamgar had authority in God and he exercised that authority on 600 Philistines.

Joshua 14:

Caleb was of the tribe of Judah

In Numbers Caleb was 40 years old, in Joshua Caleb was 85 years old.

The Sons of Anak mentioned in - Anak literally means long-necked or tall. The Israelites identified the Sons of Anak with the Nephilim, the “giants.”

Joshua 15:12 KJV 1900

12 And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

Joshua 15:13–14 KJV 1900

13 And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron. 14 And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

Caleb drove the Anak out of Hebron

1 Peter 4:10–11 KJV 1900

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:

Gift here is “charisma” and means a divinely conferred power or talent

Oracle in the NT means The Word of God

Minister means to be a servent

Moses just had a staff

Joshua just had 7 trips around the walls of Jericho

Samson just had a jaw bone of a donkey

David had 5 smooth stones

The beggar lady had two pennies and Christ said she has given more than ALL of you

Mary had an Alibaster box

The lad had two loaves and 5 fishes - how many were fed

Jesus Christ just had a piece of wood in the shape of a cross and the blood that flowed over that cross is the same blood that covers me and all my failures.
