We have spent almost 2 months on Galatians.
We have talked about the Gospel, Real Faith, Believe, the Promise, the Freedom, the Fruit, and today we will finish with the Service.
These new Christians needed guidance and instructions on how to live the new life that the Gospel demands.
Everything is tied to our service.
In other words, our actions.
Jesus said, “By their fruit you will know them.”
We must learn to let our fruit speak louder than our words.
1. Authentic believers must help those who struggle
Spiritual is those who live by the Spirit (remember it is Attitude, Behavior, Character)
The word restore means to make someone completely adequate or sufficient for something, to cause to be fully qualified
The word gentle is concerning attitude and behavior, in contrast to being harsh in dealing with others
Watch yourself is a warning to be cautious (don’t sacrifice your faith to restore)
Carry each other’s burdens (be praying for each other)
The more you pray for each other the less bickering and gossip that exists
2. Authentic believers must be humble and productive
Pride and arrogance can keep you from serving others
Don’t think that your position or title entitles you to be served
Learn to serve like Jesus
Don’t compare yourself to others (if you must, then compare to Jesus)
Don’t wait for others to carry your burden
Don’t be a burden but be a burden lifter
3. Authentic believers must care for their pastors
1 tim
When I was in Seminary, my Old Testament professor said, “A fat priest means a blessed Israel”
Paul commands that those who are taught must provide for the teachers (pastors)
God intends for pastors to preach and teach, lead the church and their livelihood should be provided by those God sends to receive the Word from that pastor
You must share good things
If you don’t want it, don’t give it to the pastor
Give what is good
God can’t be mocked, you reap what you sow
Are you sowing leftovers, used stuff, change, unwanted things?
Your pastor shouldn’t have any needs that can’t be met by your generosity
4. Authentic believers must persevere in doing good
Set the goal and don’t stop until you accomplish the task
Persevere is to continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success
Don’t do good so that others can do good to you
Do good because that is who you are (character)
God knows what you are doing and at the proper time He will bless you
Do good even if no one notices your actions
Do good even if people are ungrateful
5. Authentic believers look for opportunities to be generous
Don’t wait for the need to arise
Don’t wait to be asked to help
Look for ways to be a blessing
Do good to all people
Do good, especially, to those who are believers
Be generous
Look for opportunities to be generous
