The Risk to Help Help People - Acts 16:11-15

Introduction

Q: What could have happened if Paul’s team didn’t take a risk to witness in Europe?

Personal Q: When is the last time you took a risk to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

I. Paul’s Team Arrived In Philippi. - L- v.12,13

A. Philippi was a Roman colony. - L- v.12

B. The Philippians were proud of City. - L – Phil. 3:20

Philippians 3:20 “For our citizenship is in heaven from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

C. The Jewish believers worshipped by a river. – L- v.13a

D. There were only women present that day. – L- v.13b

I Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”

Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

II. Lydia Was A Professional Woman. - L- v. 14

A. She was a businesswoman. – L- v.14a

B. She worshipped God. - L- v.14b

C. She heard Paul speak about Jesus Christ. – L- v. 14c

Lesson: No person is ever converted to Christianity who has not heard the Gospel.

III. The Lord Opened Lydia’s Heart To The Truth. – L- v.14c; L- John 6:44; L- John 6:44; L- John 14:6

Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

A. Lydia was seeking God. - L- v. 14b

B. Lydia received Jesus Christ. - L- v.14c

IV. Lydia Obeyed Christ’s Commands.

A. She was baptized.

Matthew 28:19 Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

B. Lydia wanted her household saved. – L- v.15a

C. Lydia wanted to be discipled. -L.15b

Matthew 28:20 Jesus said, “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…”

Conclusion: Four Points of Interest:

1. Don’t be afraid to witness in different locations. - L- v.12

2. Don’t be afraid to witness to different religious people. – L- v.13

3. Taking a risk can produce salvations. - L- v.14,15

4. Paul’s team took a risk staying at Lydia’s home. – L- v.15

Question: When was the last time you took a risk to help someone find salvation from Hell’s fire?
