We've set apart this time and this location. That we can offer acceptable worship under you. The fruit of our lips and we offer that to you Lord that the fruit of Our Lives you said that we are to present our bodies as a Living Sacrifice and we do that right now. Lord as we come into your presence, we hear the the wonderful Promises of your word in Psalm 103 that you forgive all of our sins and you remove them as far as the East is from the West we've come here today recognizing that we have sinned and so we make that confession dear heavenly father. I confess that I've sent things that I've done things that I've got done attitudes of my heart that are displeasing that are displeasing or disobedient to you. But we thank you that you are a loving forgiving God that you are a loving and forgiving God and we claim your promise that if we confess our sin you are faithful and just to forgive us all our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I set my will to worship you now in Jesus name in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Let's Worship the Lord.

The Apostle Paul writes to us in Romans 12:1 and to I appeal to you Brothers therefore by the mercies of God to present your bodies a Living Sacrifice. Holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind that by testing you may discern. What is the will of God what is good and acceptable and perfect? Hey, man.

The new how it is in the new. Covenant that God has made with all people and the old was good but the new is better. The old was glorious, but the new is more glorious. In the old we see a type of the savior in the Messiah the new we have Christ in our lives and in our hearts. We have a better hope we have better promises. We have a better Covenant.

And all because of what God has done and yet it all was God's plan and God's time. So let's begin to read. We're going to read all Exodus 19. On the third New Moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt on that day. They came into the Wilderness of Sinai. They said out from rephidim and came into the Wilderness of Sinai and they encamped in the wilderness. They're Israel in Camp before the mountain while Moses went up to God the Lord called to him out of the mountain saying thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the people of Israel. You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I bore You On Eagle's Wings and brought you to myself now therefore if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my Covenant you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples for all the Earth is mine and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel. So Moses came and call the Elders of the people in set before them. All these words that the Lord of all the people answered together and said the Lord has spoken we will do and Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord and the Lord said to Moses behold. I am coming to you in a thick Cloud that the people may hear when I speak with you and may also believe you forever. When Moses told the words of the people to the Lord. The Lord said to Moses go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow and let them wash their garments and be ready for the third day. Four on the third day. The Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people and you shall set limits for the people all around saying take care not to go up into the mountain or touch the edge of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall be put to death. No hand shall touch him, but he shall be stoned or shot shot through with arrows weather Beast or man. He shall not live. When the trumpet sounds a long blast they shall come up to the mountain. So Moses went down from the mountain do the people in consecrated the people and they wash their garments and he said to the people be ready for the third day. Do not go near a woman. On the morning of the third day. There were Thunders and Lightnings and a thick Cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast so that all the people in the camp trembled then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God. And they took their stand at the foot of the mountain now Mount Sinai was wrapped in Smoke because the Lord of descended on it in fire the smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln and the whole Mountain trouble greatly and as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder Moses spoke and God answered him and Thunder. The Lord came down on Mount Sinai to the top of the mountain and the Lord Called Moses to the top of the mountain and Moses went up and the Lord said to Moses go down and warn the people less they break through to the Lord to look and many of them perish and let the priests who come near to the Lord consecrate themselves less the Lord break out among them and Moses said to the Lord the people cannot come up to Mount Sinai for you yourselves warned that sing set limits around the mountain in consecrated and the Lord said to him go down and come up bringing Aaron with you, but do not let the priests and the people breakthrough to come up to the Lord bless you break out against them. So Moses went down. To the people and told them and now they're giving us an cramps right after that, but we're going to go to Hebrews 12 and we're going to see contrast Hebrews 12:18 through 29.

The writer of Hebrews by the Holy Spirit writes to us for you have not come to what may be touched a blazing fire and darkness and Gloom and a tempest and to the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hears bag, but no further messages be spoken to them. For they could not endure the order that was given if even a beast touches the mountain it shall be stoned indeed. So terrifying was the site that Moses said I tremble with fear, but you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the Living God the heavenly Jerusalem and to innumerable angels in festive Gathering and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven and to God the judge of all and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect and to Jesus the mediator of a New Covenant and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the What available? See to it that you do not refuse him who is speaking for if they did not Escape when they refused him who warned them on Earth much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven? At that time his voice shook the Earth, but now he has promised yet. Once more I will shake not only the Earth but also the heavens this phrase yet. Once more indicates the removal of things that are shaken that is things that have been made in order that the things that cannot be shaken May remain therefore. Let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire. Praise God. pastor.

This is one of those messages that doing in Wake of what we just read the others are trembling. When you share the word of God because I'm going to go see the image of God's incredible holding us when we get those images and you can't hear is here's the thing that I think is important in the reason. We took time to read that Old Testament Passage. is because we have the theological explanation by the writer of Hebrews that brings us from Mount Sinai to Mount Zion. And that's the Glorious transition from the old Covenant to the New Covenant, but I don't want us to forget one thing. God is just as holy in the New Testament as he is in the old. How many of you believe that? Malachi 3:6. I am God, I change not and the only way that we can get an image of how glorious and how holy God is is to read The Narrative passage and there's a whole lot of stuff going on here in Exodus Isner. I'm going to be just a little bit afraid and trembling in the midst of all of that stuff going on when you see hey don't touch this you going to die animals anyting how many realize how serious?

The Holiness of God is the same in the old and the New Covenant our relationship to that Holiness changes. And God has a remedy for our inability to stand fully in his presence. And that's through the blood of Jesus Christ because in this better Covenant this New Covenant that sprinkling of blood speaks a different language than the blood of Abel the blood of Abel was crying out for vengeance. But the blood of Jesus sprinkled on those that have been redeemed. Makes us able to stand forgiven in his presence throughout all eternity in the old Covenant. You still before God as you were as holy as you could be. Trusting in the sacrifices that would be offered on your behalf.

But in the New Covenant God has a remedy for our inability to stand before his presence. And before we go to the passage in Hebrews, I want to go back to pass if we read last week cuz I want to show you.

how this works in our relationship with the Lord Gordon, Isaiah chapter 6 and we read this quite a bit because well because it's the Bible number one. We read the Bible quite a bit.

I want you to see something every time I read this passage the first eight versus last week. We read the first 7 verses in are in between worship songs.

Church in the year that King Uzziah died. I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne. I am lifted up and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim each had six wings and with two of them covered his face and with two covered his feet and width 2E flu and one call to another and said holy holy holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory. Let's say that together. Holy holy. Holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory. Know what I want you to see is that what did what did Isaiah see? All he saw was the train of his Temple? I know the train train of his robe is all he saw.

And then it shows verse for in the foundations of the thresholds. Shuck think of that. Where do we see that? Just a few minutes ago an actual just didn't we?

It shook at the voice of him who called and the house was filled with smoke.

But notice what Isaiah says and I said, woe is me.

What he says is I'm a dead man.

I am I am finished. Chanel who stands before God in this old Covenant relationship not before God literally seeing his face but enough of God to recognize that I'm undone. Why was that because he says I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell among the people of unclean lips.

and then he says for my eyes have seen the king the Lord of hosts when we really see God we see. Our inability to please him, don't we? Oh you ever been so overwhelmed by a revelation of God that you realize there's no way you can stand in his presence. But notice what the Lord did one of the seraphim and this is this is the New Covenant. This is not it sort of it a precursor of the New Covenant but it also shows and that's the other thing. I wanted to point out that God is as holy in the New Testament as he is in the old and he is as merciful and gracious in the Old Testament as he is in the new our God is a god of grace and mercy even in the old, right how many people believe that? All right and here is here is a indication of that. Look at what God did Then one of the sheriff him did what? Flew to me. Just think about that statement for a moment. Isaiah is before God recognizing his simpleness. But unable to do a thing about it.

What happens? Sheriff comes Close flue to me Jazz, and he took one of the coals from The Altar and what did he do? he touches his is Aquaman about an excuse me verse 70 touched my mouth and said behold. This has touched your lips. Your guilt is taken away. And your sin is atone for now. What did he do to have that happen?

He did absolutely nothing showing people say that God is not a god of grace and mercy in the Old Testament there. Just not seeing it. Isaiah had nothing. He said I'm a Deadman. I am undone. I can't stand In God's Presence, but God had the remedy for. I know sometimes you feel as though you are not worthy to serve. Because you're like Isaiah. Are you say I'm undone. I'm like a dead man before the Lord and I have no remedy but God has a remedy. Amen. show Now let's go over to Hebrews 12 because we title this the Holiness of God and motivation to worship and serve, you know, there's a lot of things we can self-motivate. We can you know, you can sit on a tack and be motivated to move your body a little bit. There's a lot of things we can do to be motivated, but the Holiness of God.

Is the motivation to worship and serve and then will become the Hebrews the book of Hebrews.

Is all about this better Covenant that we have in this new covenant relationship. He gets his from Mount Sinai to Mount Zion and it's incredible study and there's so many things that we could talk about theologically.

but I think it's important we go back as I said we go back to the narratives and we go back to things that happened in the Old Testament because the story of who God is brings us into the reality of his holding us. Now again, just picture yourself a lot of you like to go to movies, right? And nowadays we have the surround sound and so you're watching a movie and they'll be some beer growling over here and it's coming out of this side. You just look over there and Let me know what I'm talking about. I mean the sort of really frightening but there's something about people want to experience. The event they want to actually be there. Show God gives us some great lessons in the Old Testament to the narrative passages and then the the Epistles. Talk to us about how they apply but without understanding The Narrative we may miss the Holiness of God how many of you know what I'm saying here again? I don't know what I'm saying. I'm just trying to say it so messages you preach. You really don't know how to preach. You just trust the Holy Spirit to help you do it in a meaningful Manner and as I was studying this

It it was. Powerful thing in my life just to see this again. But in verse 18, I just want to go through this. I want you to see the elements. In this passage in Hebrews of gods absolute Holiness how many of you believe that God is absolutely holy that's why we say, holy holy. Holy when the Angelic realm says, holy holy holy they are saying he is absolutely holy in his Perfection and every one of his attributes is predicated by his holiness.

Towing Verse 18 again, he's talking about Esau never the story of Esau and his Birthright and all that and you couldn't find a place to repent. I know chance to repent though. He sought it with tears verse 17 says but now he talks to us about this relationship. We have he says for you to not come. Let's say that together or you have not come. What may be touched? A blazing fire look at the elements of this dangerous. Holy God that we serve. The blazing fire Darkness gloom and Tempest the sound of a trumpet and the voice use words made to hear is beg that no further messages be spoken to them.

They could not endure the order that was given. If even a beast touches them out and it shall be stoned indeed. So terrifying was the site that Moses said I tremble with fear.

But daddy says but you and the tense of the verb here is but you have already come let's say that together, but you have already come to Mount Zion.

Enter the city of the Living God the heavenly Jerusalem to the innumerable angels in Festival Gathering and the Assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven and to God and a reminder of his Holiness the judge of all and of the spirits of righteous. Made perfect. rap speaking of the old Covenant righteous people that are now experiencing the benefits of the New Covenant because of what Christ has done but also in the New Covenant relationship what righteousness do you and I have

No one is righteous. No, not what? Righteous man made perfect. How can that happen other than through Christ and we're going to see you again.

Because we've come to Mount Zion of the city of the Living God of the Heavenly Jerusalem Jerusalem to the innumerable angels and Festival Gathering and of the Assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven and God the judge of all and the spirits of righteous made perfect. And then he talks to us about Jesus. Who is the mediator of a New Covenant the Greek word. For mediator is Messi tace. Let's say that together necesites. It's one who intervenes to rescue to restore. Peace between two parties. CR Shannon separated us made us an enemy of God, right?

A mediator also guarantees all terms are going to be mad, especially as it ratifies a New Covenant. You see we couldn't come into this New Covenant relationship without a mediator. Because we could not stand before God. in our own righteousness So Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant and then he talks about. The sprinkled blood that speaks a better word. Let's say that prays together a better word than the blood of Abel UC Abel's blood cries out for vengeance. What the blood to sprinkle blood of Christ speaks to us about forgiveness?

now How does this apply to us?

Again, I'm sensing a maybe there is people here that you know, when when you're about to move forward and God to do something for the Lord the enemy comes to you. And what does he tell you?

Oh, don't do that. You remember this this is who you are. This is what you did. This is this is who you really are. And he uses sometimes you use a simple accusations. Sometimes you'll say, you know, you're ugly. You say well, I'm not going to argue that you're stupid. Well, I'm not going to argue that depending on what we're talking about. But then there's higher-level things higher-level things that he throws at you deeper things about your life that the enemy tries to throw at you how many of you know what I'm talking about?

and show it immobilizes people God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind in the context of when Paul shared that with Timothy was a Timothy was beginning to back off having been given the gift of Prophecy. He was not prophesying with the confidence that he would have been able to prophesy or should have been able to prophesy because of fear or perhaps fear of response, perhaps, who knows what was going on at a higher level in the spiritual warfare against him. So then Paul's advice to him was or till it told him God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind and there's some days you need to know you have a sound mind. Hey, man, when you wake up in the morning, and you don't know what day it is. And it takes you half the morning to remember then that means you need to claim this sound mind right remember last week. I said one thing that hopefully has motivated and it and then heard a couple you mentioned that we should live everyday as if it's your last.

Hey, man, because remember we talked about a couple weeks ago. It's not so much that we backslide. It's that we lose our sense of urgency. Okay. Now you say well, isn't that somewhat dramatic?

That's somewhat dramatic. Is that how many you think it's good advice? I don't have tomorrow, but I have today. I don't have Wednesday, but I have Sunday. I have the moment this moment in time to do my best to bring glory to God. and then

so then now you just shoes warning, don't you love warnings?

So he's bringing us from out Sinai to Mount Zion. He's talking about the same. God was just as holy in the New Testament as he is in the Old Testament, but he's also showing us a God who is just as merciful and gracious in the old as he was in the new because he didn't leave those Believers out.

The Bible says that Abraham look forward to Christ death and resurrection. And as a result of that you see the Old Testament Saints. They look forward to Christ Redemption and that Redemption redeem them retroactively and you and I look back to the cross and we are redeemed because of what Christ did for us a man.

So we have the same God just as holy in the New Testament as he is in the Old Testament. We have the same God just as merciful and gracious. In the Old Testament as he is in the new he's bringing us from Mount Sinai to Mount Zion. A man and a Gloria Mount Zion is far more. Glorious a man. Can you get an image of the Heavenly Jerusalem? Can you get an image of what lies forward for us go to Revelation chapter 19?

is again I Sometimes we need to see the description that the scriptures have for us. After I heard what she needed this is worse one want to seem to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven crying Hallelujah. Salvation and glory and power belong to our God. Or his judgments are true. And just where he is Judge the great prostitute who corrupted the Earth with her and morality and has a bandage on her the blood of his servants once more. They cry it out Hallelujah the smoke from her goes up forever and ever and the 24 elders and the 4 living creatures fell down and worship God who was Seated on the throne saying amen hallelujah. And from the throne came a voice saying praise our God all you his servants you who fear Him small and great. Daddy talks about the marriage supper of the Lamb that awaits us. He says then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude like the Roar of the mighty Waters and like the sound of my TP tools of Thunder again. We see a god who's making all kinds of noise. Hey, man, do you like thunderstorms and you'll like all of that?

and then Read verse 6 again. I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude like the Roar of many Waters in like the sound of Mighty peals of Thunder crying out Hallelujah for the Lord Our God the Almighty Reigns. Let's say that together Hallelujah for the Lord Our God Almighty Reigns, let us rejoice and exalt and give him the glory for the marriage supper of the Lamb has come. And his bride has made herself ready.

It was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen bright and pure for the fine. Linen is the righteous Deeds of the Saints. And the angel said to me right this. Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the lamb? And he said to me these are the true words of God. And I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said you must not do that. I am a fellow servant with you. And your brother is to hold a testimony of Jesus worship God for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of Prophecy.

we get another image of the Holiness of God, don't we now let's go back to Hebrews and let's let's

finish this up

Not that I know how to finish this up there some you know, there's some messages that you sort of get a picture of what what who got is and what's going on and there's no way to there's no way to end it. There's no way to know. And that doesn't mean I'm going to keep talking till midnight, but there's just butt. Verse 25 again. We see another pivotal point in this Hebrews 12 passageware. Now, he's talked to us about my Mount Sinai talk to us about Mount Zion brought us there talks about the fact that now we have a mediator. Praise God, we have a mediator.

Daddy says see to it that you do not refuse him who is speaking. Now, why did they refuse the speaking in the Old Testament? It might be God had to say.

I'm even had a voice it just sort of irritate you and grinds you and you just don't even like that. She got voice but the boys have God Is So convicting it is so powerful it is so holy other. That is if we don't want to hear any more of this voice the stalking.

I mean you see what we're talking about it he says. Where they did not Escape when they refused him who warned them on Earth much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven?

At that time his voice shook the Earth. But now he has promised yet once more I will shake not only the Earth but also the heavens. This phrase yet. Once more indicates the removal of things that are shaking that is things that have been made an order that the things that cannot be shaken May remain. Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Now he's beginning to he's beginning to tell us what our response should be there for. Let's say that we're together therefore. But before we finish that part up, I want you to go to Hebrews 3.

And again the whole book of Hebrews. It's so packed with Incredible teaching and understanding. Whatever 7 Hebrews 3:7 it says. Anna and the first U-verse, is there a Chapter 3 of talk shows about how Jesus is greater than Moses. Whatever 7 it says therefore is the holy spirit says today if you hear his voice.

Do not Harden your hearts as in the Rebellion.

Where your father's put me to the test and saw my works for 40 years. Therefore. I was provoked with that generation and said they always go astray and their heart if not known my ways as I swore in my wrath. They shall not enter my rest. Take care Brothers last. Aster be in you and evil unbelieving heart leading you to fall away from the Living God Then he tells us one of the ways that we maintain our ability to walk with God consistently says but exhort one another every day, encourage one another every day. Look at somebody and say encourage one another every day.

As long as it is called today. When is it today? It's always today. Just like when the Bible says now. It's always now. What it says today it is always today. So that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin for we share in Christ's if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end is it says today if you hear his voice do not Harden your hearts as in the Rebellion.

Then back to Hebrews 12. I don't know what the how the holy spirit is is working in your heart or what? He's what he's doing or what he's saying the good news about the word of God is living and active. It's sharper than a two edged sword. Can you imagine picking up a two edged sword? What is that mean it cut you too? A man when you when you take that sword and use it it it cuts both ways guy show that he says in in Hebrews 12:28. Therefore, let us be grateful. Why should we be grateful? Because we're going to receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Everything around us is subject to shaking. But the kingdom to come is a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

Some of you perhaps have been in an earthquake anybody been in an earthquake? Okay, and some have described earthquakes is one of the most Eerie kind of natural disaster because the things do we count on, you know, you're going to one one person. I was reading a book and they talked about their account of being around California or somewhere where they had an earthquake and they were up in a like on the 23rd floor of a motel and how it freaked him out because they were told one of the safety procedures as you get under a table. while you're on floor 23

So let's get under a table on floor 23 and see if we can make it through this. So what's that table going to do for you? You know because the idea being on the 23rd floor in the whole building is going on when I'm a little ways up here. Joe getting under the Buddy talked about how freaky it was to be in that kind of natural disaster and to think about it sort of like coming to the top of the escalator and not stepping off. You know, I mean, it's never done that you kind of doing something else. Joe

we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

So he says let us show that then let us offer to God hears our response acceptable worship. Does that mean? Jermaine singing our favorite Diddy's

my favorite songs again. That's part of it singing songs to bring honor to God, but it's also offering the worship that we talked about earlier when Dave read Romans 12 1 and 2 again, I beseech you therefore by the mercies of God because God Is So merciful. But you presented go on presenting your bodies as a Living Sacrifice. Holy and acceptable unto God which is the only reasonable response to this incredible Mercy that has been offered to us. And then he says don't be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we can be able to prove by testing. What is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God So we need to be grateful that we're receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And so we the offer to God she God won't take worship from you. It's something we offered to him.

Denny shell tells us how how to do it. We offer to God acceptable worship how

reverence and awe or fear fear is the word, you know that we have a hard time understanding that concept of fear and reverence because we're told not to fear and full body wash the Greek word can mean different things depending on the context where we get the word phobia, but there's an element when we read Exodus 19, how many of you had a little bit of fear and trembling put yourself putting yourself in that place.

Daddy tells us for our God is a consuming fire. Say that together for our God is a consuming fire and also tells us again that the same God the same God. I am God, I change not his Justice in the New Testament as you goes in the old because Deuteronomy 4:24 says for the Lord. Thy God is a consuming fire even a jealous God. You see that consuming fire is representative of his righteousness is absolute Holiness. It's also an image. Of the fact that he is in the process of refining us. a man being refined show as by fire What is a passionate God whatever God does he does with passion? What he sent his son to die for you. He sent him with a passion. To accomplish that mission and he did on the cross what God did for Isaiah.

when the sheriff him flew to him God sent his son for us into us to redeem us and the only reasonable response is to offer our lives and worship. show

again, I don't know how this how the holy spirit will apply this to our lives. But hopefully we have an image now of God that is maybe a little bit different than we had. I would have you saw something or heard something and maybe help you today. Go ahead and Humor Me.

I remember. God is just as holy in the New Testament is he is in the old and he's just as gracious and merciful in the old as he is in the new because we have a God who is an all-consuming fire.

The Lord we thank you. That not only does that fire represent purification, but it's a fire that empowers us. It's the fuel that burns in our spirit to be able to accomplish great things for you. We thank you that your Holiness is a motivation to worship to offer our lives and worship but also its fuels our service for you. We don't burn out because God always always is feeding that fire.

When to stop this prayer for just a minute cuz I want to share this. One of the thing is I was saying that I have a real life situation yesterday reminded me of this. Are I came back from my run and change it all there's no hot water. Yeah, I figured well, what's hot water? You know, it's overrated.

show

what I have to do. Well, apparently the storm that came on Friday night must have blown out the pilot lighting. Can have a fire to warm it up? she may be the enemy has blown out your there's no flame any there any anymore then to heat it up?

Joe is we close in Perham. You say I need my pilot light real it. All right. Lord relight that pilot light

because your fire is the fuel that empowers us to be able to use the gifts that you've given us. to be effective Servants of you And it is only by your power is only by your intervention that we are saved. It is only by your intervention that we can participate in that great marriage supper of the Lamb that awaits us what I pray that you help us every day to see how more and more we can manifest Your Glory.

Play We manifest your glory in our lives and in our death. We thank you for the power that you give us Jesus name. Amen. Let's read.
