การทรงจำแลงพระกายของพระคริสต์ The Transfiguration Of Christ is an account that is both easy and hard to understand.
It is easy to understand that a change took place and that it was something to marvel at.
From a practical point, It seems hard to understand it applies to our lives today.
I want us to see 4 points from this passage that will help us to grow in our understanding of Christ as well as help us in our service to Him.

Do you want to know why many Christians are not interested in the things of God? because they are only being affected by what others have discovered…their walk with God is based upon the devotionals of others rather than their own!
This also means that you have a time with God, not a time with someone else’s devotional book ABOUT God. Those books are fine and good, but they are not to take God’s place!
If you want to know Christ and His Word and see the Glory of It, you must spend time with Him!

For 6 days Moses waited and for 6 days, the disciples waited.

16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17 And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
When Moses was called up to the Mount Sinai and given the Law of God, the Ten Commandments which reflect the righteous character of God.
For 6 days Moses waited and for 6 days, the disciples waited. Then they saw God!
I’m not promising an experience like this if you have regular devotions, but I do know that there is not an APP for walking with God; There is no way to have someone else do it for you.

Peter’s response was to stay there in that spot forever! But that was not God’s plan for Peter then, and it is not God’s plan for us either!
We must go and live out our faith!
Having graduated from college/university does not mean that we have arrived, it means that we have the knowledge to do something. If we never use that knowledge, we have wasted the education. The same is true in our Christian life…if we spend time in God’s Word but do not act on it, we miss the mark.

James 1:22-25

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
It seems that we have 2 extremes in our Christian walk; 1. We tend to want to DO something to prove ourselves, etc. or, 2. We focus so much on the devotional that we never actually DO anything with what we have learned in our devotions!
GRACE - is not either/or, but both/and!!! The Spirit doing a work in my heart through the Word of God and teaching me how to live!
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

This passage shows us “That devotion furnishes support for the performance of the duties and the endurance of the trials of life.”
Too often we are eithe/ or christians…we are either spending time studying the Bible and praying OR, we are serving God all the time. The TRUTH is, we need to do BOTH!
II. That a devotional spirit sees new glory in Christ and in His Word.
That is God’s GRACE at work in our lives!
The Sabbath Principle - What day of the week do you take to “be still and know that He is God?” It doesn’t have to be the same as my day off, or your friend’s day off, but when do you focus on the things of God and do only those necessary things to sustain your life?

III. That devotion is not the whole life.
