The defiance of humanity and desperate need for righteousness 1:18- 3:20

So lets cover a little history
I don’t know how well you know or if you know the book of Romans
The first book of the NT that is attributed to the Apostle Paul
Romans is a series of letters, matter of fact a letter
i would have to gather that the brotha was long winded and had a lot to say
And the reason that Paul wrote this letter to the romans is because of two specific reasons
See first the romans had recieved some really jacked up information
and there was some misunderstanding with the teachings of the Apostle Pauls
And two Paul felt it necessary to clear up any misunderstandings
he put into written word the message that he had been preaching for 25 years
See the Apostle wanted to correct any problems that were with the church
So the letter of Romans starts out with a greeting.
He tells that that his intention has been to come and preach to them
to be with them
that he had planned to do so many times but something always prevented him from doing so
And it was when he wrote this letter that he was on his 3rd missionary journey
it was during this time that he was in Corinth as a guest to Gaius
1:16-17
in this area of scripture, Paul expresses the power of the message of Christ
He shares with them the understanding of the gift of righteousness
that the plan of this gift was to save people spiritually and to bring them into right relationship with Jesus Christ
How this gift is the answer to Gods judgement against sin
He shares with them that within this gift is the perfect world
And then he shares with them that it was the fall of Adam in which that world no longer was no longer perfect
and it was within his fall that they lost the kingdom
see you have to understand that the HS, cannot reside in a sin ridden temple as man had become after adam ate of the fruit
And he shared with the Romans, how the gift of His son and his shed blood was the way to that righteousness
ILLUSTRATION OF JESUS AND HIS SON
see it was through this gift of his son in which a way for us to be forgiven of all our sin was possible
how we as a people were restored to right standing with the father.
the funny thing is that these romans knew the truth
they knew what the Apostle had said to them and they knew that what he had said was God’s word
So they knew
but they refused to come in balance with the word of God
And because of this God got angry
God was angry at the sin of his creation
and at this point man had really screwed up
for someone had thrown a spirit of confusion into the romans belief system
And a spirit of homosexuality had entered into the church
men laid with other men and vice versa
the problem is that they knew the truth
they knew God
yet the problem is that they refused to follow his guidance
they were believers of the word and yet they refused to follow and trust in what they believed
and through this refusal came darkness and confusion
This confusion and refusal to worship and to obey the one true God caused them to worship idols and make man made objects
things they could physically see
just like we do today, for it is hard for us to understand and process something or someone that we cannot physically see
And because of it, just like adam, he (God) abandoned them to their foolish ways.
Do you get it?
Well let me explain that God did not abandon them and leave them hanging.
he would not do that
He loved them just the same
for they didn’t loose the love of the father at all
but just like adam did when he fell, he lost access to that perfect world
he lost the kingdom, not God’s love
He allowed them to make a decision
And that decision caused them to loose the benefits of the kingdom
As a holy God cannot reside in an unholy temple
see what they did
what we do
is we trade the truth for what we can comprehend
see our natural mind can only comprehend the natural things
the things of the flesh
see our eyes fool us and we can only comprehend and make sense of what we can physically see
thats is why many of us battle with lust etc
See our flesh comprehends with immediate gratification
all because we refuse to use the power and authority that is given us and make our flesh subjective to our spirit
And the same things happened to the romans during this time.
they fell subjective to the things of the flesh and their fleshly desires
As parents many of us call it tough love, we allow our kids to make decisions so that they hopefully come out with good decisions
and if they created a pit that hopefully they will find their way out before things get too tough for them
but because of these indiscretions,
because they had made their bed and they had to lye in it
judgement came
God had given them ample time to turn things around and then the Apostle Paul had to write his letter
See each man and woman under Apostle Pauls tutelage knew the truth
they just choose to follow what was easiest
they wanted immediate gratificaion
todays answers
exactly like man wants today
and because we cant qualify it with one natural sense
we gravitate to what we can believe and what we can see
we gravitate to what we can touch and to what we can feel
see God is real, but we can’t necessarily reach out and touch him
we cant feel him
and we cannot see him
But see that is what faith is
faith is believing in something that you cannot see
And see that is the reason why we have a ways backward society today
lust running ramped because we cant control our sexual desires
but if i look at things correctly, we have the authority and the power that we need to put our flesh in subjection to that of the spirit
For we are Spirit, Soul and body
not the other way around
however too many of us are living that way
body, spirit, soul and we live the life in which or spirit is in subjection to our flesh
All because we have chosen not to believe and to trust in that that we already know
and that was the problem with the romans as they decided not to follow that that they already knew
and such there was judgment
ours/their words didn’t mean diddly squat because of the gray area in which was believed
and yet somehow we believe that it will all be ok and that there will be no consequences
well,
God abandoned them and they suffered the consequences of their wayward ways
See none of this would have needed to have been necessary if they had just held strong to the words of the Apostle
See Apostle Paul told them the truth
He told them basically how to live a successful and prosperous life
And yet they chose not to follow and strayed away from the possibility of that perfect world
and if you qoute your grandmother,
and if you qoute your grandmother,
just take today for instance
if you make your bed you must lay in it
Gods anger burned
i know that we have all heard that quote once or twice in our lives
Gods anger burned, he was upset, no doubt about it
Now dont mis quote me and go around saying that I said this or that
don’t misunderstand me
I am not saying that if you don’t do things Gods way that he is will strike you with pain
I didn’t say that in the least
but if you choose to live outside of the will of God you have to expect that you will have come into agreement of the ways of the world
and thus you will have to deal with whatever the world has to dish out at the time
See, what you have to understand is that our actions, either positive or negative, they open doors
But the thing is that God didn’t leave them hangin
he sent a representative to try and get them back on track
to warn them of their wayward ways and what might happen if they continue with those ways
See the word shows us how to gain God’s favor
Just as it did for the Romans
Yes god was mad,
just like as a parent you would be also
but he allowed them to make a decision
let me tell you this though, that by your decision you are telling others what is most important to you
See God didn’t strike them dead
but their were consequences to their disobedience
My mom always said that famous saying that if your make your bed that you will have to lay in it
and that is so true
And then some will say that a waiting dog will return to its own vomit
See the other statement that my mom always made was that you must walk the walk and talk the talk
See the day has come where we are no longer able to talk and then act differently
Apostles, prophets, preachers, teachers and evangelist’s
Lay people
BELIEVERS OF CHRIST
You can no longer speak one thing from the pulpit and then live a completely seperate life without consequence
I mean yes there is grace, and God will always give that grace
but their is a specific area of grace that is going to lift
God is no longer going to allow 2 sided preaching etc to be in existence
Our word either has to be yes or no
In this new dispensation there is no gray area allowed
Our character has to be that of christ
The problem was that they (the romans) began to feel guilty but not repentive
they were so busy with the appearance of the package
they cleaned the outside of the cup while the inside was filthy
sad things is they realized it, but refused to do anything about it
And just like we do today, we have to keep the appearance of a thing
all while our lives are falling apart
Our prideful nature
that nature that keeps us wanting to keep up with the Joneses
our guilt rises up and begins to eat us from the inside like the bacteria in the cup that grew because it wasn’t properly maintained or cleaned
And it is within that time that just like the romans did, that we began to focus on the works to get us to heaven
When we know that the true and only way to heaven is to be born again
See one of the things that plagued the jews at this time was that they believed that they were better than the gentiles
But understand that no matter who you are that there is no certain advantage
and because of this, the romans began to second guess the teachings of the Apostle Paul
See this teaching took away their comfortability
And when our comfortability is challenged and taken away
our truth comes out
who we are comes out
and we begin to double talk and try to convince our way of of something
we try to justify everything
When in reality, no one is better than the other
God is not a respecter of persons
that no one is righteous
but that sin is common to all
that all are equal
See in , the Apostle Paul affirms and supports his agreement that none are righteous.
now let me explain
see the apostle paul is pointing out that no one is better than the other
That all have fallen short of the glory of the father. 3:23
But within there there is savings grace,
that all that accept the father will be declared righteous
that as his children that we are justified by his grace
now understand when i say that we are all his creation but we are not all his children
that through the shed blood of his son that we are justified
that it was a gift that was freely given to man
and that through this we are justified and that it satisfies a debt
But the fact is that justification by faith des not nulify the law but establishes it
that it is through this justification that we uphold the law
Pall also affirms or states a fact that we must abide the moral norms of the law
See God is righteous
God is redemptive
God is loving and restoring
and that by receiving this gift is what makes a person righteous and empowers them to live right by Gods standings
See it is a fact that our spiritual salvation is recieved through faith
And by accepting God as our lord and savior does not omit the law
but just the contrary
It justifies it
And as a result, we gain the power and ability to honor and obey Gods moral law
