The Satisfaction of Belief
Dale Bruner tells the story: I love walking into my house when my cat is home. My cat usually doesn't like people, but when I come home, the cat recognizes me, climbs onto the counter, and waits for me to pick him up. This cat will trust me enough to allow me to hold him on my shoulder, right next to my ear, where I can hear and feel his gentle purring. I will sometimes walk around the house, with the satisfied feeling that God must have, because I revel in the fact that this cat trusts me enough to let me carry him around, and I find deep delight in knowing that I am trusted and that my cat feels safe on my shoulder.
