Well this is it
This is the last time
I have been here nearly 2 years
Like I said last week
Thank you.
Last week
The suffering Servant
We learned what he went through
the pain He felt
The complete and utter rejection
All this week I couldn’t stop thinking about it
For me its the rejection
Followed up with the physical abuse
Its one thing to be rejected
But to be beaten
And in the manner to which He was beaten
The emotions that must have been flowing through His mind
I find it truly amazing “Forgive them”
Only God could do that
You can’t tell me Jesus wasn’t something special.
Tell me would you follow a man like that?
A man that was brave enough to go through what he went through.
A man strong enough
A man who loved enough
A man who was devoted enough
A man who was obedient enough
A man who leads by example
Even down to the level that He went
I would and I will
I am proud to call Him master
Proud to call Him High Priest
King
Messiah
He’s perfect in every way
In the passage today
We are going to understand the promise of His return
The characteristics of his leadership
The benefits of living under his rule
We are going to understand the truth
We are going to understand where prosperity truly lies
Israel knows this
This is what they have been praying for
This is what we are promised in eternity
This is our point of application
The reason why being a believer is such a wonderful thing
John 16:22 NLT
So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.
When it seems all is lost it’s not.
Job 19:25 NKJV
For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;
So lets say a Prayer
Ask God to open our eyes to the truth
That we will see the benefits of Him
The benefits of His kingdom
And lets walk out of here today
Heads held high
rejoicing in the promise
Fully confident in what He promised
Isaiah 11:1–10 NLT
Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. He will delight in obeying the Lord. He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision based on hearsay. He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited. The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked. He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment. In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all. The cow will graze near the bear. The cub and the calf will lie down together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra. Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm. Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, for as the waters fill the sea, so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord. In that day the heir to David’s throne will be a banner of salvation to all the world. The nations will rally to him, and the land where he lives will be a glorious place.
We spoke last week of our hope
We spoke of application
We spoke of what the Bible truly teaches regarding our future.
We learned of a prophecy written 700 years before Christ
That came true with unbelievable accuracy
Another prophecy that has not been fulfilled
a hope of a better future
A hope of peace
The truth remains that our point of application
That our point of redemption
That our point of blessing
IS the hope in what comes next
Thats the messianic kingdom!
Turn with me to
Revelation 21:1–4 NKJV
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
But lets understand something
The New Testament is the Old Testament explained
Revelation has over 600 references to the OT
If you notice throughout the New Testament
An author will refer back to a specific OT passage
Revelation does this over 600 times
Revelation is the OT
The author, John, see’s in
Obviously this is in the future
We are not there yet
Lets go back to Isaiah and see what Isaiah see in this prophecy
Lets see what the Kingdom where Jesus is King, is truly like
But first some context
You see Israel had been dragged of into Assyria
Isaiah was a Prophesying at the time of the Assyrian invasion.
Israel and Judah were falling away
Isaiah had been warning them
They wouldn’t listen
So Israel and Judah both are in bad shape
Isaiah is speaking of a future day
A day when the Messiah would rule
Still to this day Jews desperately wait for the Messiah
They believe He will bring about the fulfillment of this chapter
What they don’t understand
Jesus is the Messiah.
So Jump back to the text
It would have appeared like they had lost all hope that God had abandoned them
Not saying God cannot help us
Look at verse1
Isaiah 11:1 NLT
Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.
Not saying that there isn’t a better way to live. Those are found through out scripture
Picture of a tree stump growing
So then lets compare that to our lives
Are their times when you feel your hope has been but down
Are there times when you have felt like God has abandoned you?
Are you going through something right now?
Are you feeling the pressure from work
Are you feeling the pressure from family
Do you have a family member that is not doing right
Are you struggling to pay the bills
Do you feel that God is silent
Here we see that God is always there.
Just when you thought God was gone
When you thought He had abandoned you
When you thought He had rejected you
He didn’t… He is putting you through something
That something is for a reason!
James 1:2–4 NLT
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
James 2:2–4 NKJV
For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” or, “Sit here at my footstool,” have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
The reality is that we are always going to suffer until that day when our king takes over again.
But lets get back to the purpose of this passage
The stumps indicates hopelessness in SALVATION
Yet the BRANCH is going to come from this stump or better said the tree was cut down but the roots are strong.
Gods plan of salvation will never be thwarted.
You could actually say everything is going according to plan
Where is your trust?
Lets understand that God is in control
The reality is that Israel had asked for this!
They asked for hopelessness
Because of disobedience.
God promised them over and over
If you abandon me things are going to go south
Thats exactly what happen
But the catch is,
God is treating them as a child
He is punishing them
But He will never leave them
What does it say in
Hebrews 12:5–6 NLT
And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”
Hebrews 10:5–6 NLT
That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer. You were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin.
So then what is this Branch?
Why is it capitalized?
Ok learning point
Turn with me to
2 Samuel 7:12–14 NKJV
12 “When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.
2 Samuel 7:14 NKJV
I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.
This is a promise made to King David
Now can anyone tell me who was the father of David
Jesse
So Isaiah is identifying this shoot or stem coming out the stump
Is the Messiah
Better stated
So
The passage speaks of a new world leader.
One that will rule with all wisdom and the characteristics of God.
Look at what God is saying about this new leader
Spirit of God will rest upon Him
Spirit of Wisdom
Spirit of Understanding
Spirit of counsel and might
Spirit of knowledge
He will fear the Lord
Turn to
Proverbs 8:13 NKJV
13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.
This Messiah is going to be something we have never seen before
The perfect ruler
A man seemingly molded from the very hands of God
I don’t know which way you lean politically
I don’t care
I don’t care if you believe what’s on the media
All I know is I am sick of our leaders
- Can we all agree that division has become a weapon
Instead of unification division and hate
This leader,
This Branch
This Messiah
Will be something like you have never seen before
Power and compassion
Love and fairness
Peace and kindness
and any other adjectives you can think of to describe the perfect ruler
Look at the characteristics of how He will rule.
He will not judge by appearance
Wont make a decision based on gossip
Just will come to the poor
fair decisions for all
Yet He will be so mighty
The earth will tremble at His word
All people will recognize His authority
There will be no doubt who’s in charge
One Word from Him and the wicked will be destroyed
He will be the ultimate purveyor of peace
I can’t wait!
The result of His authority and the reality of His kingdom 6-16
Peace will be common
The way it was always meant to be
He is going to solve all the worlds problems
The race problem will be solved
The war homeless problem will be solved
The hate problem will be solved
The war problem will be solved
There will be no more war
He will be the very embodiment of righteousness and faithfulness
The New American Commentary: Isaiah 1–39 (4) The Reign of a Righteous King (11:1–16)

The righteous character of the Messiah will enable him to do the right thing in all circumstances while his faithfulness will ensure his consistent dependability. He will display perfectly the character of God because the divine Spirit’s gifts will hang like clothes (a belt or sash) around him

Think about this
This is the promise of God
This is why each apostle died a martyrs death
This is the Gospel
You are born in sin
Because of Adams sin you don’t get this
You miss out
You’re done for!
But Jesus made it right
We can now be with God
We get to see the promise of
We get to live in this promise
We get to survive and serve under this ruler
Everything is going to be absolutely perfect
Are you getting excited
What did Paul say
Acts 20:24 NKJV
24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
This is our HOPE
This is our eternity
This is why Peter said
1 Peter 1:3–9 NKJV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter
The apostles got it
The biblical authors got it
The early Christians got it
And this is why Christianity spread like wild fire
A belief that is proven authentic and factual
Via Prophetic fulfillment
A king that loves me as much as says
A King that is willing to die for me even though I rejected Him
A King that says I am good enough
A king that promises to never leave you
A king that says all this is yours
Just have faith
This King is promising THIS!!!
I AM IN ALL THE WAY!!!
Look again back at
Lets dive deeper into this promise
Wolf will dwell with the lamb
Leopard will lie down with a baby goat
Calf and a lion that will be led by a Young Child!
Cow will graze near the bear
Cub and the calf will lie down together
The lion will eat hay like a cow
Baby will play near a cobra and not be harmed
Places extra emphasis
Yes a child will put his hand in a nest of deadly snakes
No harm will come to him
What a world of difference isn’t it
Too good to be true
This is an entirely different world
A new paradigm
something we are not familiar with at all
Nothing will be hurt or will destroy
Why?
How is this even possible
Take a close look at verse 9
Isaiah 11:9 NLT
9 Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain, for as the waters fill the sea, so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord.
You want to know what a nation full of Christians would look like
You want to know what our world will look like
When we all live by the rules of God
When we all live for one another
When we all stop being so selfish
Stop being so violent
Stop being so motived for self preservation
When we stop living by the flesh and start living in the Spirit
This is what happens
Now understand this
The Bible is quite clear this will not happen until Jesus comes again
There is a false doctrine called Kingdom now theology
This will all happen when our king is placed on the thrown
Then and only then
but that again is our Hope
That is the Gospel
We have been made right!
We have been given righteousness
We have been justified
by the blood of the cross
Only because of Him will this happen
Only because of jesus will this world change.
But then look at verse 10
Isaiah 11:10 NKJV
10 “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.”
Think of a banner as a rally flag
One that is used to rally troops
The entire world will look to Him
The entire world will see his morality
His example
His salvation
His characteristics
and will obey!
We will live in peace!
What a future!
I will say it again
The poverty problem will be solved
The disease problem will be solved
The race problem will be solved
The war problem will be solved
There will be no more war
Isn’t that a complete 180 from where we are now!
No more bickering
Anger
Jealousy
Hate
What a beautiful existence!
Do something weird
Are
Now the remainder of the chapter goes deep into Israels salvation
The remainder of the chapter tells us
Israel will be United again.
Israel will be United again.
The enemies of God will be cast away
This is also important
Anger
A majority of the Christian world believes God is done with Israel
Jealousy
This is not so
Lets all stand up and if we can make a circle and hold hands
Hate
God has not gone back on His promises towards Israel
The enemies of God will be cast away
God will not forget His people
Realize we are all going to be with each other for all eternity
Realize we are all a family
And a highway will be made for Gods people to return
Understand tells us God used Israel for your salvation
Israel will once again lead the charge for God.
In fact you could say we are indebted to Israel
Realize we are all servants of the true King
Look to the right and bless your brother or sister today
This verse we are about to say to each other is the priestly blessing
But the Bible is clear God is not done with Israel
So as we depart today I want each of us to bless one another.
Lets imitate what its going to be like in the kingdom
A place filled with love
Understand we can all enter into the holiest place now by the blood of jesus.
Filled with Hope
1 Peter 2:4–5 NKJV
4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:
A place of perfection
Ill start off.
Numbers 6:24–26 NKJV
24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’
Majority of church history shows a specific theology called replacement theology
It says God is done with Israel
That the church has replaced Israel
But you see over and over God isn’t through with Israel
Israel was the object of affection in .
They are the people of God
They rejected their own messiah
Yet God said In Hosea He will bring them back in
He will woo them as a husband does his bride
says Their purpose is clear, their fall was purposed so that you could be saved. Verse 11 - 12
We don’t have time to go deeper on this today but let’s be clear God is not through with Israel.
If we put our hope in this prophecy and if we believe the word of god is true then The biblical story will end as it began, in paradise.
Just as paradise was lost in the beginning so we will be in the end.
bring ultimate peace
The race problem will be solved
The war homeless problem will be solved
The hate problem will be solved
The war problem will be solved
There will be no more war
He will bring ultimate peace
