Subject of praise and worship is about God not you.
Series, pohp
John 4:24 ESV
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
truth is, its not about you
When we wroship anything but God, it is called idolatry
1 John 5:21 ESV
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
1 John 5:21 NLT
21 Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
Dont let anything take Gods place
isnt this the lie from the world, temptations
saying that more power is always better, more money is always better, believing that im the source of life in my world, on and on the list goes of letting things take God’s place in our hearts, food, sex, power, gossiping, money,
whats the answer?
1 John 2:15 ESV
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
traditional interpretation is this, if i dont love the father then i love the world, and its a choice of a or b
A. I love the world
or
B. I love God the Father
but see it does not say love for the world and love for the father, it says
Love for the world
vs
Love of the Father
see the first part is me loving the world and all it offers
but the second part is God loving me, knowing that God loves me, it says the love of the father not love for the father.
The love for the Father says ‘I love God’
The love of the Father says ‘God loves me’
you want to get rid of the junk of the world in your life dive into Knowing God the fathers love for you.
See the love for the world dissipates as we begin to know how much God loves us, how much God loves you. its not about choosing one or the other its about believing that the God of the universe knows your name and that he sent his son into the world to die for your sins, so that you could live a life fully alive in your spirit, in your emotions, mind, relationships, every part of your lifebeing fully alive,
where does it come from, the love of the father, dive into Gods love
red ferns grow, raccoon hunting, trap down by the river acorn in a bottle
we are looking at what the world offers, and gives, instead of looking at who god is and how much he loves us, we begin to let go and the love for the world begins to be removed and the love of God begins to release all the junk and all the sin, becuase of the love of God
read verses- turn your eyes upon jesus
O soul are you weary and troubled No light in the darkness you see There's light for a look at the Savior And life more abundant and free

Chorus

Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth Will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace

Verse 2

Through death into life everlasting He passed and we follow Him there Over us sin no more hath dominion For more than conquerors we are
His Word shall not fail you He promised Believe Him and all will be well Then go to a world that is dying His perfect salvation to tell
sing chorus
His Word shall not fail you He promised Believe Him and all will be well Then go to a world that is dying His perfect salvation to tell
turn your eyes upon jesus
real quick, why do we say love of god then sing turn your eyes upon ‘jesus’ jesus was the visible image of the invisible God Colossians
As we dive into God’s love and we are learning and experiencing God’s love and grace and his movement and his life in our lives we come together and we do this thing called praise and worship
so then biblically what does this look like, what does it mean

Video
