Last week we considered Romans chapter 5 verse 8.
In that verse, we were discussing love between two parties.
We said the receiving party needed to have love outwardly shown or demonstrated.
We pointed out how God, that is God the Father, shows or demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were still sinners-Christ-died-for us.
That is, Christ died on the cross for our sins.
The Demonstration of Love.
Results of Love.
Today we have 2 main points-we are going to look further about the Demonstration of love, and then the results of that love.
Demonstration of Love.
The People involved.
First of all, let us begin by looking at the two parties concerning this love.
The first party is God the Father.
God the Father is mentioned in some way nine times throughout this passage.
On this slide, I highlighted God the Father in orange.
(Slide)
Next is the second party of this love is us.
We are the recipients of the love of God the Father.
Demonstration of Love.
The People involved.
The value of the target.
Now, why do two parties love one another?
Why would God love us?
What is it about us?
Normally the object of the love has some sort of value.
Are we somehow good enough?
Or smart enough?
Or special enough?
How are we described here concerning God's love?
I highlighted us in pink.
slide
Usually the person that you love has some sort of value to you.
We talked about this last week, but on the contrary, we were powerless, ungodly, sinners, subject to God's wrath; we were God's enemies.
Usually, the target of love has some value to person, but we did not exhibit any value to God.
slide
Here is what both of those slides look like together-God the Father in orange-LOVES shown in pink right in the middle- Love ,US showed in a purple.
What are we-powerless- ungodly -sinners- enemies, under God the wrath of God the Father,
This is important-God the Father Loves us- not because of who we are-because we are enemies, sinners, ungodly-But God the Father love us because of who He is!
Let me say that again-God the Father loves us not because of who we are-but because of who He is.
When love is shown or demonstrated, it is shown with something that has value to the giver.
That indicates to the recipient how much they are valued by the giver.
Demonstration of Love.
The People involved.
The value of the target.
The value of the gift.
Usually, you show love to someone in proportion how much you value the person, or much the person has value to you.
When you love someone, you may demonstrate your love for them by doing something for them, or giving them something.
Of course, this isn't necessarily monetary though it could be.
But whatever it is it costs the giver something.
For instance, Perhaps, there is someone in your life you have only a superficial relationship with, a business relationship.
A small token of your appreciation like a gift certificate or box of candy might be appropriate.
However, if it someone you love dearly, you give something of great value to you.
Like a diamond engagement ring.
Or our time, and our life as people come together in marriage.
We are demonstrating that they are the most important person to us.
We give something of great value our life.
God gives a gift to those He loves.
But, the difference is that we should not have any value to him, we are enemies yet the gift God gives to us, His demonstration of his love is the life of Jesus.
slide
If we highlight in yellow where Paul mentions Jesus we see that Paul mentions Jesus ten times, in 11 verses.
6 times in the last two verses alone.
Paul is telling us that God the Father demonstrated to us, who certainly did not deserve it -that He loves us, and demonstrated that with incredibly precious gift of the life of His son Jesus.
God the Father, shows the magnitude of His love to the sinner by giving Jesus, the most valuable person that he can give.
The perfect, sinless life of the son of God.
The One who was with God in the beginning, Who being in very nature God.
As it says in Colossians
God the Father gives the most valuable thing he can give us, the gift of life in Jesus Christ.
God the Father gave the life of God the son the second member of the trinity to be this visible expression of His love,.
Now, with this full picture of God the Father’s love.
The Results of that Love.
Assurance
Now, what does that do for us?
Does God the Father’s love have any impact or does it change anything in anyway.
Is this demonstration of God the Father’s love, nice and all, and we are justified, and good for us?
I’m justified, that’s great I’ll see you later, great for me, I have a in to free to heaven, it is past tense, I can now live however I want.
I have my justification, I have all theses blessings now it doesn’t matter.
In these next two verses, Paul will state that Justification by Faith, when properly understood, will result in an assurance that will last our lifetime.
Let me say that again, slightly different, when we fully understand what God the Father did for us through Jesus Christ, that will result in assurance that will last our lifetime.
Our Assurance is the fuel that feeds the Christian walk.
Our assurance is what propels us forward.
Our assurance is the rope that keeps us from falling.
It is the reason why you CANNOT stay away from Church.
It is what motivates your worship, what sustains your generosity, it is what drives your prayer, and your devotional time.
We brothers and Sisters, have been justified by the blood of the most valuable person God the Father can give.

Since we have now been justified, by the sacrifice of Jesus, God’s most precious and most valuable sacrifice, Since we have been brought near, then---How much more- shall we be saved from God’s wrath.
You were bought with a price-The blood of the most precious Son of God-Therefore if God has purchased someone with such a high price as the life of His son-don’t you think he would hold on to it.
Don’t you think you will be saved.
Saved-past- moved from a state of God’s wrath to God’s grace-justified.
Being Saved-Saved now from the power of sin in our life gradually more each day-sanctified
Will be saved-At the last judgement when God pours out his wrath saved from that to glory-glorification
The Bible uses the word saved in several different ways.
First the Bible speaks of being saved as an event that has occurred to us one time in the past -past tense.
This is justification.
You are saved past tense done-you are justified.
Second the Bible also talks about us being saved in the present-you are in the process of being saved from sin having the victory over your life.

Sanctified.
Then lastly the Bible speaks of will be saved in the future.
