What is anxiety?
apprehensive uneasiness or nervousness regarding something about to happen; whether what is to happen is known or unknown
Anxiety in the medical/clinical world has many levels and degrees and it’s often mis-understood
People have anxiety about relationships, finances, tasks & responsibilities, situations (driving, traveling to new places) political anxiety, current events can cause it - shootings, robbery, rape.
Anxiety is real and it can include fear of death, fear of sickness, and even fear of life
Anxiety revealed in Scripture
Adam and Eve - fear of God; Jacob was afraid of Esau; Pharaoh was anxious about the dreams he was having; Mary the sister of Lazarus was anxious and troubled about all the work that had to be done
Even the great prophet Elijah dealt with anxiety and fear as recorded in 1 Kings 19 after the showdown against the prophets of Baal.
And it happens to those even in the presence of Jesus Mark 4:35-41
Where is a good place to start?
Understand that anxiety brings us to a place where our focus is misplaced - we see the place that we’re in and it consumes our thoughts and attention
