Psalm 117 is the shortest of the Psalms, shortest chapter in the Scriptures, YET… it expresses a TRUTH that is powerful and holds great implication and impact regardless of generation, people group, or culture you come from!
This is a Psalm of praise!
Recalling the provision of the Abrahamic covenant of blessing through Israel to all other nations of the world.
The Moody Bible Commentary Psalms 113–118: The Hallel Psalms
In very early Jewish tradition these six psalms are known collectively as Hallel psalms (“The Praise”), because of the Hallelujah! (“Praise the Lord”) endings… .
This Hallel reading tradition was already established by the NT period as a fixed part of the Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles celebrations.
Our Psalm today is the Second to last of these six Psalms.
PRAISE exudes from this Psalm!
Begins and ends with “HALLELUJAH!” praise the Lord!
NOTICE: ALL nations, ALL peoples
This is not just for Israel...
This is not just for Christians...
God desires ALL to praise Him
He is deserving
LAUD HIM!...
Applaud Him...
Declare and praise His greatness
Worship
These things draw the world around us into a Praise/Worship of Him!
Verse 2 Answer the WHY? of Praising Him...
Loving-kindness… IS GREAT!
Way far above / Towering over beyond comprehension

We praise Him for His abundant loving-kindness AND...
The Truth…Everlasting
What is TRUTH?
God’s Word… 2 Timothy 2:15
Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh!

God’s Word, Jesus Christ are everlasting!
Remember what Jesus states in Luke 21:33
WHY because He is everlasting!
The Psalmist as he considers this God we have has to proclaim again “Hallelujah” Praise The Lord!
The OBJECT of this praise is SINGULAR= GOD
The SOURCE of this praise is PLURAL= ALL PEOPLES
Isaiah declares this one day will be the case of ALL
Romans 14:11 Paul declares this will be the case whether you do it now or standing before God.
Let’s Praise Him now and use that praise as an opportunity to draw ALL to Jesus Christ!
