Jesus was talking to large crowd and now he shifts his direction to the disciples.
Thousands are coming to hear Jesus ( also has a crowd this size). Perhaps his rebuke of the wicked generation is bearing fruit. Perhaps Jesus will be received. The crowd is so large that people are pressing over one another to see and hear him (καταπατέω, katapateō, to walk over one another; BAGD 415 §1b; BAA 845 §1b; elsewhere in the NT at ; ; ; ). Jesus knows that his popularity is temporary.

GOD: ILLUMINATION (THE GOAL IS TO RESOLVE THE TENSION

I. Do not be anxious

22 And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing

After warning all about valuing possessions too highly, Jesus turns to address his disciples about trusting God (the contrastive δέ, de, but, signals the transition of audience). The connection between the two sets of exhortations suggest that the security that many look for in possessions is to be found only in God.
A. Anxious God is bigger and more powerful than you know
Anxious, worry
μεριμνάω fut. μεριμνήσω; 1 aor. ἐμερίμνησα (μέριμνα; since Soph., Oed. Rex 1124; X., Pla. et al.; pap, LXX; ParJer 6:15; EpArist 296; SibOr 3, 222; 234; Just., A I, 25, 2).
to be apprehensive, have anxiety, be anxious, be (unduly) concerned (PTebt 315, 9 [II a.d.] γράφω ὅπως μὴ μεριμνῇς; ) μηδέν have no anxiety (WWeeda, Filipp. 4:6 en 7: TSt 34, 1916, 326–35). περί τινος ; ; Dg 9:6. W. indir. question foll.: πῶς ἢ τί λαλήσητε about how you are to speak or what you are to say ; cp. (cp. ParJer 6:15 τὸ πῶς ἀποστείλῃς πρὸς Ἰερεμίαν). W. dat. and a question foll. μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ψυχῇ (dat. of advantage: for your life, B-D-F §188, 1; Rob. 539) ὑμῶν τί φάγητε ; . Abs. ; in ptc. (s. Mlt. 230) ; . Beside θορυβάζεσθαι περὶ πολλά of the distracting cares of housekeeping 10:41 (the text is uncertain; s. Zahn and EKlostermann, also FSträhl, Krit. u. exeget. Beleuchtung von : SchTZ 4, 1887, 116–23). εἰς τὴν αὔριον do not worry about tomorrow

24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!

B. Life is more than these things

25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?

See how I care for nature
If you can’t do better than these small things then trust the God who can.
If you can’t do better than these small things then trust the God who can.

27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you,

If you can’t do better than these small things then trust the God who can.

II. O you of little faith

A. sometimes oh we of little faith

O you of little faith! 29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

The present imperative μεριμνᾶτε (merimnate, do not worry) looks at a constant attitude. A lack of anxiety about basic daily needs is to characterize the disciple (Marshall 1978: 526; Bultmann, TDNT 4:589–931
People are subject to God, whether they accept it or not; so it is best to look to him. In fact, the absence of anxiety involves trusting one’s care to him, as the allusion to the soul (τῇ ψυχῇ, tē psychē) makes clear (Ellis 1974: 178). The reasons for having an absence of anxiety follow in 12:23–28. The point is not asceticism, but a life lived with an eye to God, as he meets one’s needs (Manson 1949: 111).
B. You...seek the Kingdom of God
many seek after the things of this world...
We are busy beyond belief
we are consumed by all of this.
C. we are to seek to see where God is breaking in
the kingdom breaks into our lives in many ways salvation
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again[a] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

III. God’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom

32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Children (12:32)
12:32 Assurance follows. Disciples are to seek the kingdom; and yet they are assured that the Father is committed, willing, even pleased to give them the kingdom.
To speak of God’s pleasure is to speak of his will
Because the Father is pleased there is no reason (ὅτι, hoti) to fear
The tenderness of the reassurance is expressed in the address to the disciples as “little flock,” an OT figure for God’s fragile yet cared for people
B. Kingdom
he promise of the kingdom is not specified or described in detail. What seems to be in view are kingdom blessings that are the product of pursuing the kingdom.
In other words, pursuit of the kingdom is a goal that can be realized. Above all, secure relationship with God is alluded to in the promise, one that can bring stability and absence of anxiety

33 Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys
