1 Samuel 16:12–13 NIV
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

2 Samuel 3:39 NIV
39 And today, though I am the anointed king, I am weak, and these sons of Zeruiah are too strong for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!”

I. CHOSEN; ;

A mark is a visible impression or a distinguishing feature. It could be a badge, brand, or other distinctive traits .
A Marked person, bears unique qualities, and profound characteristics
If you’re a world class Sprinter, Quarterback, running back, or wide receiver, you become MARKED; everybody on the field and in the stands have their eyes on you…….
If you’re dangerous at the 3 point line, top of the key, or have a strong Post game, you become MARKED. The defenders want to know where you are at ALL TIMES
God chooses men for SPECIAL TASK. Those COMMITTED to His service are MARKED
Being MARKED could mean you being an object of attack, suspicion, or vengeance
Being marked could be connected to one enjoying FAME, CELEBRITY, or NOTORIETY
Being MARKED can be one ANOINTED AND APPOINTED

1 Peter 2:9 NIV
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Chosen as God’s SPECIAL POSSESSION, we are MARKED to proclaim His goodness, Sing His Praises, and Mighty Acts.
You’re MARKED because you’re a BELIEVER, MARKED, because you PRAISE Him, marked because you TRUST HIM.
BELIEVERS are MARKED, if PRAISE IS WHAT YOU DO, you’re MARKED.
MARKED because you’re a WORSHIPPER, because you’re a giver.....
if you’re a WORSHIPPER, you’re MARKED
Being MARKED isn’t something we DETERMINE, SECURE, or PROCURE,
Being marked is a GOD THING!
Touch someone and tell them “GOD DID IT!”
Dictionary of Bible Themes 6639 election, to salvation

Election is God’s sovereign prerogative

Romans 9:15–16 NIV
15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.
Rom 9:1
You didn’t have ANYTHING to do with being who you are, being in this world, and the FAVOR of God imparted into your life
John 15:16 NIV
16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
John 15:16
Fact is, God has EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS, it’s His privilege to act where and when He delights, cause He’s sovereign

GOD SENDS SAUL TO ANANIAS
GOD SENDS SAUL TO ANANIAS
Acts 9:15 NIV
15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.
Acts 9:15
Every thing you’re capable of, gifted to do, your intellect, was planted in your DNA
Before your mother met your father and your grandmother meeting your grandfather, God had you in mind
Do you think their ENCOUNTERS were ACCIDENTS?
No, their ENCOUNTERS WERE NOT accidents but were part of a DIVINE PLAN to bring you into being
Their DNA, pedigree, and personalities would flow through your bloodline to produce the person you are today
You were WIRED for PURPOSE
God often gives names to the MARKED that don’t seem to FIT them, then GROWS THEM into THOSE NAMES
David was only 15 YEARS OLD, ATTENDING SHEEP, when he was whisked into the presence of Samuel and ANOINTED as King of Israel
The title King didn’t fit a SHEPARD BOY, but he was MARKED,
Soon after he was anointed, he CONFRONTED GOLIATH,
The MARKED will have ENCOUNTERS with the ENEMY.
When you’re MARKED, you’ll have to CONFRONT, and times when you’re CONFRONTED

II. CHALLENGED; ; ,

….but, profess you are YOUR NAME; “Iam what and who God said I am…….
….but, profess you are YOUR NAME; “Iam what and who God said I am…….
Truth is although God called me CHOSEN, of the ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, his SPECIAL POSSESSION, There are times when I don’t feel CHOSEN, ROYALTY, OR SPECIAL;
However, I admonish you NOT TO give up! Remember,

God makes demands on his people

Deuteronomy 30:15–16 NIV
15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
Dt 30:15-16
David’s MARCH to the throne was a DIFFICULT ONE
David’s MARCH to the throne was a DIFFICULT ONE
David waited many years before the CROWN actually rested on his head
It’s clear in 3:39 David had been through some stuff
2 Samuel 3:39 NIV
39 And today, though I am the anointed king, I am weak, and these sons of Zeruiah are too strong for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!”
2 Samuel 3:39 NIV
And today, though I am the anointed king, I am weak, and these sons of Zeruiah are too strong for me. May the Lord repay the evildoer according to his evil deeds!”
2 Samuel
Just BECAUSE you’re ANOINTED don’t mean you won’t get weak
Just because you’re anointed doesn’t mean you won’t have to fight
Just because you’re MARKED doesn’t mean you WON’T have to CRY SOMETIME
Even though David sought the MIND OF GOD, he could not escape the PLOTS and PLANS of the ENEMY
David was EXILED from the very country he would eventually have sovereign rule over,
Im NOT alarmed when I read about him being HUNTED by Saul, his son Absalom, and others, because He was MARKED from birth to be King of Israel, and became a TARGET
According to the text, although David had been anointed to be king of Israel, there were many, in the NORTHERN KINGDOM who PROTESTED, COMPLAINED, and FOUGHT AGAINST his reign
Yet, even then, God used a BAND OF MEN to GATHER ROUND HIM,
He became the leader of these SOLDIERS who PROTECTED their country from enemies
He began to reign over Judah and the south Country, but he was MARKED by God to be King of All of ISRAEL
SAUL and his sons, including Jonathan fell at Mount Gilboa, immediately David’s kinsmen recognized him as the leader of the clan in Hebron, but the MASS of the nation didn’t immediately YIELD to him, and rejected him
Somebody here knows it pays to “BE PATIENT,” because if God APPOINTED YOU, it will MANIFEST
DAVID’S KINDRED EXPRESSES HIM BEING MARKED.....ALWAYS HAVE BEEN SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT YOU SIR
1 Chr 11:1-5
1 Chronicles 11:1–5 NIV
1 All Israel came together to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood. 2 In the past, even while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord your God said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’ ” 3 When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, he made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel, as the Lord had promised through Samuel. 4 David and all the Israelites marched to Jerusalem (that is, Jebus). The Jebusites who lived there 5 said to David, “You will not get in here.” Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion—which is the City of David.
1 Chronicles 11:9 NIV
9 And David became more and more powerful, because the Lord Almighty was with him.
1 Chronicles 14:8–11 NIV
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went out to meet them. 9 Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim; 10 so David inquired of God: “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” The Lord answered him, “Go, I will deliver them into your hands.” 11 So David and his men went up to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, God has broken out against my enemies by my hand.” So that place was called Baal Perazim.
1 Chr 14:8-11
THE ENEMY COMES WITH ENERGY AND POWER
In 14:8; The Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, so they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went out to meet them. 10 so David inquired of God: “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” The LORD answered him, “Go, I will deliver them into your hands.”
11 David attacked and slaughtered them, and PRAISED GOD
David said, "God exploded my enemies.
They left their gods behind, and David ordered them burned up, but they returned 14 So David prayed to God again. God answered, "This time don't attack head-on; circle around and come at them out of the balsam grove. 15 When you hear a sound like shuffling feet in the tops of the balsams, attack; God will be two steps ahead of you, slaughtering the Philistines." 16 David did exactly as God commanded, slaughtering Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.

III. COVERED;

God in His INFINITE way Hides us from all hurt and danger
He PROTECTS us from our enemies, and COVERS us by His Grace
When God delivered David from the hand of all his enemies, He sang to the Lord,
Song: thank you Lord; He bought me out...
; 1I love you, LORD, my strength.
2 You are my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; in whom I take refuge,
3 I called to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, ….He saved from my enemies.
6 In my distress I cried to my God for help.
17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
19 He brought me out, he rescued me
I didn’t turn from my God.
