Believers can Rejoice because of God’s Power (, )

Explanation: This Psalm is a Royal Psalm, and was written by David. It was written as praise to God for all that He had done, and for all that He was going to do. And we see David praising God for several of His different attributes.
David begins and ends the Psalm by praising God for His Power. David is declaring that his Kingship is dependent upon the Power of God. Because David is aware of God’s Power, he is secure. In his security, the heart of David begins and ends with Praise!
We know that Jesus is the One who holds the Universe together by the Word of His Power () - He is worthy of our Praise!!

Believers can Rejoice because of God’s Salvation (, )

Explanation: The king is not only rejoicing in the Power of God, he is rejoicing in the salvation that only God can bring. Notice in v. 21b and in v. 5 the psalmist is talking to God and he says it is your salvation. The psalmist is very much aware that it is God who gives salvation, and it is not earned through human effort
Prayer Prompt: Thank God for salvation

Believers can Rejoice because God Provides for His own (, )

Explanation: The Psalmist is not one who believes in random happenings or fortunate coincidences. He attributes his blessings to their source by the Hand of God. Notice the language of God’s Provision in vv. 2-4: You have given … ; For You meet him …; You set a crown … ; You gave it to him. And again in v. 6, we notice the same language: For You make him … ; You make him …
Prayer Prompt God is a gracious provider, and we can thank Him for His watch care over us.

Believers can Rejoice because God will deal with the Wicked ()

Explanation: Just as God Sovereignly Provides for His own, He will also Sovereignly deal with the wicked. David takes great comfort in knowing that the wicked will not escape the eye of the Lord (v. 8), and that the Lord will give the wicked their appropriate punishment (vv. 9-12). The punishment of the wicked is seen to be in the future (v. 9b), but the psalmist has confidence that the Judge of the earth will have final justice. It is important to note that the psalmist is rejoicing in the justice of God, not in the fact of the punishment itself. The Psalmist sees the punishment of the wicked as the Vindication of the honor of the God he serves.
Prayer Prompt: Praise God for being a God of Righteousness. Thank Him for being in control of final justice. Repent of selfish, personal desires on the wicked in our lives, and ask God to give that over to Him

Believers can Rejoice because God is Trustworthy ()

Explanation: David is rejoicing in the confidence he has because of his Trust in the Lord. David, as a limited human, had his own issues. David did not have unlimited wisdom or insight, and he judgments and decisions as king were capable of error. Therefore, David found great relief in trusting in One who was infinitely superior.
Prayer Prompt: Thank God for His trustworthiness. Repent of making your own decisions apart from His counsel. Give your todays and tomorrows into His hand, seek His guidance as an individual, as a family, and as a church.
