Praying Like Jesus Part 1

Our spiritual health is directly related to the amount/quality of time we spend with God in prayer. “Prayer-less lives are powerless lives. Prayerful lives are powerful lives”(Moore, 2018, p. 69)

People of profound faith are people of prayer.

Prayer is entering into the presence of Almighty God.

When we pray we and experiencing the profound intensity of talking intimately with Him.

Humbly allowing our mind, will and emotions to be transformed by His. Prayer is communion with God. Prayer is transformational.

Prayer is transformational.

Jesus prayed constantly the scripture records a number of His prayers.

“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will” ( ESV)

“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” ()

Jesus went to pray alone. “And in the morning a great while before day he arose and went out to a lonely place and there he prayed” ().

The scripture records a number of His prayers.

Jesus prayed for the protection and sanctification of His church of His church ().

Jesus prayed for those who would believe the Gospel ().

Jesus prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane ().

Jesus taught us to begin by recollecting who our father is. We begin with adoration and are reminded who we are talking to.

Prayer is taking our eyes off of ourselves and realizing the magnificent presence of God. Jesus taught us to begin with worship.

Only a true believer and truly say, “My Father who is in heaven...”.

Our Heavenly Father is all knowing, all loving and all powerful (Hebrews 4:13).

Daniel began his prayer with adoration ().
