The Book of Jeremiah

Prophet of the Lord during the fall of Judah and Jerusalem to Babylon.
Jeremiah announces that God will judge Israel’s sins and lives through the horror of that prediction.
Jeremiah tells a graphic yet important picture of how disobedience leads to destruction.
His words, we are told, uproot and tear down (judgment) but also plant and build up (hope)

The Problem (1-4)
Not putting your trust in God
This is a trust issue.
What is you default position?
We want to define sin as a “violation of rules” type of thing.
The definition of sin, “Culpable Shalom-Breaking” is found in the functional trust and final delight of your heart. In other words, sin is not making God your ultimate delight.
