Sunday Sermons July 28, 2019 “ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD...” (ROMANS 8:28) I) What This Does & Doesn’t Mean: A) One won’t have troubles in life (2 Tim 3:10-13). B) Everything will turn out fine (Eccl 9:11). C) In spite of everything we go through, God will cause good to result. SERMON NOTE One of the historically inescapable challenges of living godly in an ungodly world—has been the presence of trials. We must face trials and tribulations. But we are never alone (Heb 13:5-6). God will cause His people to succeed. II) Two Major & Vital Things Must First Take Place A) One must be called. 1) This necessitates that one be onboard with God’s purpose (Jonah 1-4). 2) One must be stirred and driven by genuine divinely revealed knowledge (Col 2:18-19). III) Look To Examples A) Abraham: 1) Left home to pursue God’s purpose (Gen 12; Heb 11:8-10). 2) Faced dangers with courageous faith (Gen 14). 3) Even though he had questions, he never wavered (Gen 15; Rom 4). 4) Proved his love and devotion to God under heart-wrenching circumstances (Gen 22; Heb 11:17-19). 1 Sunday Sermons My Sermon Notes July 28, 2019 IV) What About My Calling? A) Is it Genuine? 1) I must examine myself, to see whether I’m in the Faith (2 Cor 13:5-8). 2) I must make certain that I am in God’s eternal plan (Gal 3:24-29). 3) I must be diligent to confirm my calling and election (2 Pet 1:5-11). B) Maximize the Christian disciplines! 1) Study. 2) Growth. 3) Love. 4) Faith. 5) Prayer. 6) Holiness. 7) Worship. 8) Gospel sharing. 9) Honor. V) What About My Love For God? A) Is my love for God what it should be? 1) Love for God was the most crucial element of Covenantal relationship with God, under the law of Moses. 2) The greatest of all the Covenantal Commandments was to love God completely (Deu 6:1-5; Mk 12:28-33). 3) This kind of love for God ensures heavenly favor (Psa 31:23-24). 4) “This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments...” (1 Jn 5:3).
