The Holy Spirit Reveals the Source, Motive and Product of Faith
Source of Faith
In God’s Power (11-12)
Man and trinkets have no power.
Do not trust man or trinkets but trust God.

Paul knew he had no power and he fully trusted in the One with all the power.

We find the disciples seeking the answer to why they couldn’t in Mark 9:28-29.
Pray is important because prayer taps into the true source of our faith and it is a reliance on the true source and calls on all the giftings He has provided.
Motive of Faith
In the fear of the Lord (17)
The fear of the Lord is that reverent respect for God that is born, not of terror, but of knowledge, love, and faith.
The better we know God, the more we love and trust Him and the more we want to please Him.
In the spiritual life, joy without fear can be shallow and careless, while fear without joy can be destructive.
Terror paralyzes us but godly fear energizes us.
Mingled with joy, godly fear is a great source of power.
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably and with reverent and godly fear.
For our God is a consuming fire” (Heb.
12:28–29).
Without a proper fear of the Lord, how can we serve Him acceptably?

He Reverses the curse
