U.W.      COMMITMENTS

Introduction

  I.           We find an unwavering commitment to the truth of the gospel (vv. 14-16).

A.      Paul's commitment to the truth of the gospel led him to be uncompromising as he proclaimed the gospel among the churches.

               B.      This was not done out of a spirit of harshness, but out of the absolute certainty of his calling.

*        remember Paul's declaration "woe to me if I do not preach the gospel."

C.      We too need an unwavering commitment to the truth of the gospel.

II.           We find an unwavering commitment to the power of the gospel (vv. 17-22).

A.      Paul's commitment to the power of the gospel is demonstrated in his determination to give all the glory to God.

               B.      Paul's commitment to the power of the gospel is also shown in confidence in taking the message of the gospel to areas where the gospel had not previously been preached.

III.           We find an unwavering commitment to the work of the gospel (vv. 23-33).

               A.      Paul was committed to taking the message of the gospel to unreached areas such as Spain.

               B.      Paul was also committed to the social concerns of the gospel.
