When life changes…God is Good!

Day 3!!!!
Get into fours
God Sightings
Who are you?
A child of God
What does that mean:
I am in Christ
Why does that matter:
I am chosen
I do not adjust to change well.
1 Peter 1:2 NIV
2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
Acts 2:23 NIV
23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
In a world that is constantly changing we can have confidence that we are chosen by God. In Christ, you are chosen. You are not an accident. You are valued.
1 Thessalonians 1:4 NIV
4 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you,
Romans 8:29 NIV
29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
The Bibles word for this is adoption.
Romans 8:23 NIV
23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
Romans 8:15 NLT
15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
Galatians 4:6 NIV
6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
Ephesians 1:4–5 NIV
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
Through Jesus Christ, his death and resurrection we are adopted into this new family, with a new identity.
Under Roman law during the time of Jesus, adoption had really strict rules. The adopter had to be male and childless. The adopted person had to be an independent adult who agreed to the adoption. Once the adoption was concluded under the law, they were seen as a completely new creature in a new family. That is the same picture of us being adopted into God’s family.
Turn to the person next to you and say, “You were chosen by God.”
When life is changing, that is one thing that does not change. You are chosen by God.
Today we’ll help kids explore that when life changes…God is good!
Psalm 106:1 NIV
1 Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Today we can encourage kids that God’s love never changes! His goodness and love go on forever—even when things change so much in life that they make our brains hurt.
Lets break into our fours and pray that these kids would enter into a relationships with God and become part of the chosen, the adopted.
