Your Son Lives -
What do they call Him?
After hearing what he said and listening to Him?
Christ = The Anointed One, in Hebrew: Messiah, leader of Jews that will deliver and give truth whole world.
This big deal even to the Samaritans (who were like 1/2 Jewish).
Most Jews didn't like Samaritans and vice-versa.
Savior of the World - another role of Messiah.
John 4:43-
He didn’t go back home to Nazareth.
Why?
Because the people that know you best, assumed the worst when you disagree with them.
They were unbelieving with Jesus.
Why did Jesus say this to this “nobleman”?
Most jewish noblemen led in sanhedrin or where part of royal and thus stood with those against Jesus, they challenged His authority.
This is requiring this man to act in faith.
If he believes what Jesus says, he will start walking home.
If he doesn't, he will keep asking Jesus to come to his house.
My faith doesnt have power, but I put my faith in one that does have power.
Another event like this,
Jesus, has the power to forgive sins.
And He paid for yours and mine.
So almost a whole days passes that this man is walking either wondering if Jesus had the power, or celebrating that his son was healed.
Does the text tell us?
No.
But we know this, he continued to walk home in obedience to Jesus.
He did many miracles, but this was a sign.
Why?
Because it specifically addressed a scriptural event.
The word sign can mean, “mark”.
Its a sign post pointing to who Jesus is, and what they are doing.
Its pointing out this is the second widely know miracle that Jesus does in Galilee (Cana).
What was the result of all this?
Look at v53.
He himself believed and his whole household.
