On more than one occasion in his letters, Paul describes life as a Christian as being like running a race. As we conclude our sporadic series from Philippians, we'll see in our passage this week how Paul is motivated to keep on pushing towards the prize that awaits him and us, which God calls us to: eternal life through knowing Jesus. In this chapter, Paul encourages his readers not to take God's promise of eternal life for granted, but instead to continue striving for it, with every fibre of our being, so that in our lives we would reflect the citizenship we have been given in Christ.
