Matthew 7:1-5

(Mt. 5:23-24; 18, Gal 6:1)

There is always another side to the story . . .

Introduce the text

            Forbids premature & improper correction.  Playing cop or God.

How are we to take the log out?  Mt. 5:3,5-6

      We should first   EXAMINE         our self

            Areas most likely to be the problem:

                  Was it something I said ?

·         Reckless words

·         Falsehood

·         Gossip

·         Slander

·         Grumbling/complaining

·         Worthless talk

                  Isn’t my idea  the best?

                        Controlling, manipulating, putting down

                  Did I say that?

                        Breaking a promise, not keeping our word

                  Are “they” really in charge ?

                        Struggling with authority

                  The Golden what . . .? Rule

                        Treating others the way you want to be treated

      We should then     REPENT           

                                                                                    Prov 28:13

            Come to your   SENSES     

     

Then comes   CONFESSION    

Our own personal sin.  The thinking of the flesh.

My pride - my selfishness - my stubbornness

            Address . . . Persons involved

            Avoid . . . Avoidance

            Admit . . .  Specifically

            Acknowledge . . . the Hurt Causes

            Accept . . . Consequences

            Alter . . .  Behavior

            Ask . . .for Forgiveness

 

 

 

Then seek personal  change
