Our attitude towards life is really the front page of lives.. It’s our worldview --- it is the way we experience and process life… For a Christian attitudes should be influenced by the Holy spirit …
Jesus said that we would be known as his disciples by our fruit…
WE are are looking at the Fruit of the Spirit listed in
Our attitudes often reflect the things that we are Pursing with our lives...
— when you think about the First three Fruit listed… love, Joy and peace…
are qualities represent desires and needs that lie deep in the human heart..

these are qualities are a Triad that represent desires and needs that lie deep in the human heart..

We all have the need to experience love.... that is to be loved and to express love.
None of us really wants to be alone in life… we long for the love of family and friends...
You may remember learning about Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs .. The bottom of the Pyramid… Physical needs.. food and water… (our greatest need) then next its our Safety needs.... that is security and shelter… the next on the list is…the sense of Belonging and love needs.. friendship and intimacy…
None of us really wants to be alone in life… we long for the love of family and friendships.
Relationships are basic human need.
Our need for love is in the top three basic human needs...

2. We all desire happiness... we want to live a life that is characterized by joy ….
We don’t simply want to exist in life… but to experience happiness....
I haven’t met anyone yet that wants to live a miserable life..
We have a need for joy in human heart..
3. We all desire peace — Peace is this state of Shalom or contentment.. it living a life free of anxiety and worries..
We all desrire will even fight for peace...
and live a life free of anxiety and worries..

Here is the thing not only do we desire these things… we PUSUIT these things for ourselves and for our families… How many want our children to have a better future that we had? .
What we are saying is that we want we want our children to experience more love, Peace/security, more happiness..
We want our children to experience love, Peace/security, happiness..
Why do we have this need to strive for these things??
The reason is because we know that these these qualities are not guaranteed.. …love can be illusive… love can disappoint us … we can loose our peace… finances can be lost … .
natural disaster can strike… sickness can come… So ...Joy is not guarantied… so we strive after love, Joy, Peace...
The pursuit of Happiness is really not something that is new..it has pretty much always been the chief motivator of man...

This pursuit of Happiness is probably our biggest motivator in life..
The reason we pursuit these things are not guaranteed in life… Not everyone is Going experience love.…love
can be illusive… love can disappoint us … same thing with peace… So many things can disturb peace… finances.... or natural disaster… loose peace…
and the pursuit of Happiness can be one of the biggest motivators..
Joy is not always guarantied … and the pursuit of Happiness can be one of the biggest motivators..
The philosopher Aristotle called happiness the summum bonum—.
“The Greatest Good” or “the ultimate goal of people's lives.
According to Aristotle - Happiness is why we do what we do, we seek what we seek and love what we love, because we believe these things will make us happy.

The American dream is tied to Thomas Jefferson and the declaration of Independence.. “we have the rights to “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

In America it is our God given right to pursuit happiness…

You can see how easily Happiness can become the Goal of life.

The problem not the pursuit of joy but really the way that we define Joy… We define Joy as Happiness.
There are people in Third world countries that have very little rights, resources and means but still --- have less heart ache, stress, more joy...
“The Greatest Good” is view that happiness is the ultimate goal of people's lives.
Happiness is dependent on Happenings ...by our achievements, our finances, our health, our relationships, our position and status… We only Celebrate life when we winning....
One of the hard facts of life… is that we know that ultimately these things are not ends in themselves.. Like the man who climbed to the top of the ladder… and he looked across and realized that he was leaning against the wrong wall..

One of the Expression of being a follower of Christ is the Fruit of Joy…
This morning we are going to ask the question of Joy
The flip side of this is that if we don’t have all the above… we feel like failures…
