παρέστησεν ἑαυτὸν ζῶντα μετὰ τὸ παθεῖν αὐτὸν ἐν πολλοῖς τεκμηρίοις ‘by many convincing proofs he showed himself alive after his death’ Ac 1:3.
In a number of languages ‘convincing proof’ is rendered as ‘that which causes one to know for sure’ or ‘… with certainty.’
Kingdom - same message.

B. Ascension (4-11)

Matthew 28:19-20 they were told to go, but here they are told to wait because they needed power to do the Great Commission.
John immersed w/ water, The Holy Spirit will immerse us into Jesus to become the “Body of Christ.”
2. Instruction (6-8)
The coming of the Holy Spirit was to bring power.
The HS existed before, but was accessed in way never before seen.
It is quite possible for a power always to exist but for people to experience or take it at some given moment.
For instance, no one invented atomic power.
It always existed; but it was not until the middle of the twentieth century that anyone was able to access that power.
So God is eternally Father, Son and Holy Spirit; but there came a special time when people experienced to the full that power which had always been present.
Witness
First, a witness is someone who says: ‘I know this is true.’
In a court of law, hearsay is not accepted as evidence; witnesses must give an account of their own personal experiences.
A witness does not say ‘I think so’, but ‘I know.’
Verse 8 is the Theme verse of Acts and serves as the outline.
