A THANKFUL HEART

PSALM 33:5

He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

Thanksgiving day is arriving with all of its goodness, grandness, and old-fashioned cooking. Someone described it as “rising thru the seasons with a sheaf of wheat on one shoulder and a shock of corn on the other.”

In all of our holiday parade of dress and fashion, an while our tables are laden with plenty, let us take time to stop by the altar of God to be thankful and to rest for a little while.

Thanksgiving is a day fragrant with memories and laden with innumerable mercies, which speak to our hearts of the greatness and goodness of God.

I.                   THE ANIMAL KINGDOM

A.   GOD HAS SPREAD HIS BANQUET TABLE FOR THE WHOLE CREATION

B.   THE EARTH IS FILLED WITH DELIGHT AT HIS INVITATION

1.     WHETHER FEATHERED, SCALED, HORNED, OR HOOFED

2.     THE BEE HUMS IT, THE FROG CROAKS IT, THE SQUIRREL CHATTERS IT, THE QUAIL WHISTLES IT, THE LARK CAROLS IT, THE WHALE SPOUTS IT.

C.   WHY DID GOD MAKE ALL THESE SO HAPPY?

1.     THERE IS ONLY ONE ANSWER – GOD IS GOOD

2.     “THE EARTH IS FULL OF THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD.”

II.                MAN’S KINGDOM

A.   THE SIXTH DAY OF CREATION HAD ARRIVED, EVERYTHING WAS PREPARED

B.   GOD HAS ADAPTED EVERYTHING TO OUR COMFORT AND HAPPINESS

III.             GOD’S KINGDOM

A.   FOR THE SOUL, GOD HAS PREPARED A HIGHER ADAPTATION

B.   JESUS CAME TO SAVE US

C.   IN JESUS CHRIST WE HAVE ABUNDANT BLESSINGS TO BE THANKFUL FOR!
