In the year of 1776 the 13 colonies in the USA were declared free of Britain. As we celebrate this time of year we should remember more than anything the freedom that we have in Christ and the Great Commission to share that freedom with others.
A sojourner is a person living in a place that is not their own country
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,
ephe 2:19-20
For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding.
We our the greatest country but if you sojourn into another country others will could hate you, be jealous of you, or they could appreciate you. You would be a stranger in their land but it doesnt matter what soil your standing on your still a Christian
Even on our own soil or your daily activities you should be that of a stranger anyways. We are part of the world but we are not to love the world and the things of it.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
1 john 2:15
John 18:36
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”
As Christians Our kingdom is not of this world either, we are only living in a temporary place, but as Christians this is the greatest place for us to be so that we can make more disciples to share our kingdom.
