Your Kingdom Come.

AS we celbrate this week our nations independence we can help but look to our fore fathers that have walked before us in dependence upon God. But we know that kingdoms will come and go.
We come to a close this morning to the first half of this prayer. You will notice a proper progression that is flowing through this prayer that reveals God in the proper light of who we fall subject to and brings our hearts and minds into proper position for His answer.
Prayer is so needful for the Christians in this life. With all the adversity and calamity that befalls us God in His goodness calls us to come to Him in prayer. A place of privilege for the Child of God. To come before the Lord Almighty and cry before His Holy throne.
How pitiful we are to take advantage of such opportunity.
And when we do take advantage it is for our own selfish pleasures.
When see prayer in this light of the God I serve I begin to wonder how many times do i not honor HIs name when i come. If i was to enter a kings court and fall asleep while i was bringing my petition, or starting rabbit trailing to that which was not related i would not be in a pleasant position.
Reverantly and humbly we should come with boldness and confidence.
As we have looked at the heart of prayer and why we pray not to impress others or God for that matter or seek to inform God on whats going on in our lives. God knows all things even before we ask…He is not like other gods. ?He is the one and only God. our public prayer should be an outpouring of our private prayer.
Matthew 6:5-15.
Our Father in Heaven.
The priveleged cry of the Child of God. This reveals an intimate relationship but also a position of authority.
Ephesians 6:1 NKJV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Hallowed be your name.
Benny Hinn promising by the name of God he is not lying.
He hearing from God and was not broken but elevated.
Benny Hinn hearing from God. Was not broken but elevated.
“In the first three petitions we ought to lose sight of ourselves, and seek the glory of God: not that it is separated from our salvation, but that the majesty of God ought to be greatly preferred by us to every other object of solicitude. It is of unspeakable advantage to us that God reigns, and that he receives the honour which is due to him: but no man has a sufficiently earnest desire to promote the glory of God, unless (so to speak) he forgets himself, and raises his mind to seek God’s exalted greatness. There is a close connection and resemblance between those three petitions. The sanctification of the name of God is always connected with his kingdom; and the most important part of his kingdom lies in his will being done. Whoever considers how cold and negligent we are in desiring the greatest of those blessings for which we are here commanded to pray, will acknowledge that nothing here is superfluous, but that it is proper that the three petitions should be thus distinguished.”
Calvin, J., & Pringle, W. (2010). Commentary on a Harmony of the Evangelists Matthew, Mark, and Luke (Vol. 1, p. 318). Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software.
YOUR KINGDOM COME.
First thing that this should bring to our attention is the fact as we pray for Gods kingdom to come, we rightly acknowledge that HE is KING.
For God is the King.
No one is greater or stronger than He.
No one will ever be able to overthrow God, though, so many people try.
The Bible describes nations as but just a drop in the bucket to God.
He is the one that raises up kings and removes kings.
Do we treat God in such light?
Do we acknowledge Him as King.
Nebuchadnezzar
Daniel 4:30–32 NKJV
The king spoke, saying, “Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?” While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”
Be weary oh man if you do not see the King in such light. When you think all that you have is because by your own power you have obtained it. We see by the example of king Nebuchadnezzar that it is God who distributes so generously.
Be careful when your heart is in this place. I have been humbled several times when these thoughts begin to enter my head, and i think by my own might and strength i have obtained what i have. But when the child of God recognizes the God who opens doors and closes doors there is no telling what He is able to do. I would rather give credit where credit is due rather than continually needing to be humbled that i may see God in the proper light.
This is so important in our walk with God and in prayer that we come into humble submission to God and His ways rather than ours.
You will never see the power in prayer if you do not fully understand the person with the power. They go hand in hand.
You will never see the power in prayer if you do not fully understand the person with the power. They go hand in hand.
31 While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! 32 And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.”
The New King James Version. (1982). (). Nashville: Thomas Nelson. You will never see the power in prayer if you do not fully understand the person with the power. They go hand in hand.
I think about Elijah getting word from God after a drought had been in the land for 3 years and 6 months and God said that He was going to send rain.
Elijah got up and went as the Lord had commanded.
He had faith that God was going to do what He said He was going to do.
James 5:16b–18 NKJV
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
James 5:16b-
James
We notice that the rain was not sent until Elijah had prayed. But it was upon the command of God to Go. When the man of God or woman of God sees God as King and receives command from Him who is on the throne obeys the voice and believes the word. To the point where the prayer that is uttered is one believing that God can and will do it. Thus unveiling the power of the one to who we cry Abba Father. The prayer only avails much because the one to whom we pray has the power to do so.
This is was not so that Elijah would get glory but that God would who sent rain upon the utterance of a mortal man. Glory to God.
You may say well Elijah had word from God so it would be easy to pray in such manner.
Hello do you not have the word of God?
Do we first not have the call to come before the throne of grace that we may obtain help in our time of need.
Rather we would trade this divine power and help for a temporal forget fullness found in a drug or a bottle. To go on a shopping spree, a golf trip, a lawn mower, a work drowning, a continual checking of our 401k, stock market, or savings account.
Then when we receive the word from the King, through his word we do not believe or have faith that He can do it.
Do you not see the birds of the air or the lillies of the field?
What did Job cry in response to Gods revelation?
Job 42:5–6 NKJV
“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.”
Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water
or a path for the thunerbolt
Can you lift up your voice to the clouds that an abundance of water may cover you?
who can number the clouds by wisdom
Who has given wisdom and put understanding in hearts.
Can you guide the great bear and his cubs.
Gods revelation of Himself makes men shrink to realize our fraility to His greatness. Which is good for the child of God because i do know the one who can do those things, who has that power and He calls me to come bring my needs to Him.
The one who has the power to accomplish the impossible. What no man can.
As we see the King who is upon the throne we cry for His kingdom to Come and His will to be done.
For HE alone is Sovereign. He alone knows all things. He alone is from beginning to End.
So in light of who the King is we desire that what HE wills is accomplished because it is best not our wills. That His kingdom is set up and not ours, for ours will fail.
You now treasure what God treasures.
You now treasure what God treasures.
For we know that there is coming a day where there is no more heart ache or pain.
For it is at the consummation of Gods Kingdom described in revelation.
Looking forward to the blessed hope that awaits the children of the kingdom.
A hope for the future hope that changes our today. A real hope.
The throne room of God
Yet here on earth we see the scarcity of such worship even in the churches lives. It is when we see so clearly the person and character of God that we worship in such light.
For this kingdom that will one day be set up we know by Christ and his teaching that it is being set up in part now in the lives of his Church.
Revelation 22:7 NKJV
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
Revelation 21:1–5 NKJV
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
The Child of God this morning should look forward to that day when we see God as He is and are able to dwell with Him. And all the sorrow that is met in this life is done away with the consummation of Gods kingdom is full steam ahead.
We know that
For this kingdom that will one day be set up we know by Christ and his teaching that it is being set up in part now in the lives of his Church the children of the kingdom. The ones who inherit a new homeland in the kingdom of God.
Every vision given by men of the throne room of God you see His angels and beautiful creatures crying unto the throne with clarity Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God almighty.
Psalm 103:19–22 NKJV
The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Psalm 103:22 NKJV
Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Psalms 103:
Yet here on earth we see the scarcity of such worship even in the churches lives. It is when we see so clearly the person and character of God that we worship in such light.
Knowing then that our wills are subjected to sin, temptation, fleshly desires, shortsightedness we cry not that our wills which only can see in part but yours (who knows all things) be done.
We desire that we would do what His pleasure is but also that others would as well and live in such light.
No longer is my goal in life to have a 401k that will endure all my retirement.
No longer is my goal to obtain possessions to impress others or keep up with the jones
No longer is my Trust in my savings account or in the might of my own hand
But now my goal is to live for the King and the coming day.
It is when we see the King who is on the throne and gain His heart are we able to properly pray for our needs and those around us. We see His power unveiled, we are burdened for His mission, cause, and Will to be accomplish and not ours. In so doing we have pulled back the current of the power of the one to whom we pray and are now ready to pray prayers that send the rain.
For the person this morning may we have the urgency revealed in scripture that tomorrow we do not begin obedience to His word. That we dont begin worshiping Him as King tomorrow but today. May we cry out to Him today for the help only he can supply. May we trust in Him today.
Keeping in mind

We must first attend to the definition of the kingdom of God. He is said to reign among men, when they voluntarily devote and submit themselves to be governed by him, placing their flesh under the yoke, and renouncing their desires. Such is the corruption of the nature, that all our affections are so many soldiers of Satan, who oppose the justice of God, and consequently obstruct or disturb his reign. By this prayer we ask, that he may remove all hinderances, and may bring all men under his dominion, and may lead them to meditate on the heavenly life.

Revelation 22:7 NKJV
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
Such revelation in the christians life will great altar their prayers and their lives for they live in preparation of the day to come where they will dwell with their greatest treasure.
No longer will you ask amiss to spend on your own pleasures but in faith according to the will of God.
