Philippians
Philippians 4:2–3 ESV
I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Point 1 - It’s Not That Serious
Paul is begging two women that has worked side by side with him to AGREE!
Agree: To be of one mind / To adopt the same frame of mind.
Paul does’t even tell us the issue.

‘to be of one mind’ [Ea], ‘to adopt the same frame of mind

Paul’s does point out both women separately - “I Urge Euodia and I Urge Syntyche”
‘to be of one mind’
It takes two to come to agreement. We are not talking about forgiveness but Agreement!
In life we have to learn to let things GO!
Paul begins to deal with two things every believer needs!
Point 2 - Instead of drama, we all need Joy and Peace
Philippians 4:4 ESV
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
‘to adopt the same frame of mind
Philippians 4:
Rejoice: To be joyful / To have joy / To be glad / I wish you joy / All joy be yours / May you always be joyful
to be joyful / to have joy / to be glad / I wish you joy / all joy be yours / may you always be joyful
“In the Lord always” - The Lord is my reason for joy
One of the reasons why we loose our joy is because we lost the focus of our joy!
“Again I say, rejoice” - In spite of whatever you go through… You still need joy
Point 3 - The Process for Peace
Philippians 4:5–6 ESV
Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
The key to verse 5 & 6 is the phrase “The Lord is at hand”

to be joyful’ [NJB], ‘to have joy’ [Pl], ‘to be glad’ [BAGD, LN]. This repeated verb is translated ‘I wish you joy … all joy be yours’ [REB], ‘may you always be joyful

Jesus is coming soon
This has to be my view
Because I know he’s coming back, Paul tells them to:
“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone” -
“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone” -
Reasonableness: gentleness / consideration of others
TREAT everybody right!
Because I know he’s coming back, Paul tells them to:
“Do not be anxious about anything”
Anxious - Don't worry / dismiss all anxiety from your minds
Do worry about anything....
dismiss all anxiety from your minds
You don’t have time to stress!
“But in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”
Everything mean Everything
By prayer: prayer with a worshipful attitude and feeling
prayer with a worshipful attitude and feeling

By Supplication: petition for what is needed
By Supplication:

petition for what is needed

With Thanksgiving: Gratitude / A thankful heart
With Thanksgiving:
Let your requests be made known to God - God is the Only one that can handle your request
Point 4 Peace still has an assignment
Philippians 4:7 ESV
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
“The peace of God” - Peace: It means the absence of troubled and anxious thoughts
It means the absence of troubled and anxious thoughts
It’s not the peace you get from money
Greenlee, J. H. (2008). An Exegetical Summary of Philippians (2nd ed., p. 217). Dallas, TX: SIL International.
It’s not the peace you get from a relationship
It’s the peace Of God - He is the source of the peace! He is the peace
“Which surpasses all understanding” -
This peace is greater than our minds are able to understand
The peace that God gives is not attainable by human planning or effort

this peace is greater than our minds are able to understand

The peace that God gives is not attainable by human planning or effort

“Will guard” - To safeguard / To stand guard over / To keep guard over / To protect / To watch over / To keep / To keep safe
“Your hearts and your mind” - Peace is like a soldier on guard duty. It protects the emotions and thoughts from anxiety!
