(NLT)
5“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.
Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.
For apart from me you can do nothing.
Someone tell me where the vine ends & the branches begin?
That’s right…they just come together without a clear end and beginning.
If you remain in Jesus you WILL produce much fruit
Where does the fruit come from - vine or the branches?
Yes! Vine is the source, but the branch is also necessary.
Apart from Jesus you will not accomplish anything of value
6Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers.
Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.
In addition to not being able to do anything, those who are apart from Jesus are useless.
They are thrown into a pile and burned up.
7But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
If you remain in Jesus & his words remain in you; nothing is off limits; nothing is impossible
8When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples.
This brings great glory to my Father.
Do you want to know if you are a true disciple?
Are you producing fruit?
Are you producing much fruit?
If you want to glorify God, be a true disciple by producing much fruit.
How do you produce much fruit?
By remaining in Jesus.
(NLT)
6And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.
7Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.
Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
8Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.
(NLT)
3But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.
What happens when we love Jesus?
What happens when we let our roots grow down into him?
