Introduction
Raise your hands if you believe Jesus is a man?
Raise your hands if you believe Jesus is God?
The answer: Yes
What I hope for Summer Adventure for you this week is that you have a bigger understanding of who Jesus is.
That Jesus in your mind is God in every sense of the word because that is who he has claimed to be and what he shows us in His word.
When you think about God we always think of Creator!
God in the beginning created, he created everything!
In Colossians the apostle Paul says that it is Jesus who created all things and that everything is His.
A word to describe that is Lord.
Jesus is Lord over everything!
He is Lord over all of creation, he is its boss, its ruler, its master.
The passage we will look at today that demonstrates this is - when Jesus is on the Sea of Galilee with his disciples.
Jesus is Lord
Context
Jesus has been teaching all day!
He has had people following him, he has been doing miracles, and he has been preaching some more!
Look God came down and took on flesh if anyone of us were doing all this we would be dead tired!
Mark 4:35-
So Jesus after a long day keeps moving and he tells his disciples, guys we need to go across to the other side, lets roll out!
So they do.
Mark 4:37-38
Quick Detour- Videos
Keep in mind guys that for the most part these guys with Jesus are fishermen, they have sailed these waters and know about them and yet this storm was big enough to make them afraid!
Look they knew how to row a boat, unlike me who cant even make it 10 feet without tipping a kayak over at Hume lake!
Some of these guys were experts and yet they were afraid.
They probably thought they would drown because I doubt they even knew how to swim.
Just like what you saw in a video these guys were probably in a way smaller boat, with waves constantly soaking them and making their boat heavier and heavier with all the water that is going in.
They thought they were going to die.
So they turn to Jesus who is asleep, because you know he had a long day! and they ask that question.
Can you believe they asked this?
If Jesus cared?-
The only human being on that earth who knew that everyone was perishing because of their sin, the person who came to die for their sin and they have the audactiy to ask, Teacher do you care that we are perishing?
ooooo boy.
Its like when you say to your mom “Mom Immmmm starrviinnngggg, mooomm im hungrrryyyy, dont you care that im starvvinnngg”
Mark 4:
Jesus’ very words commanded the storm to stop immediately, just by his very words.
No one has done that, not even in the Old Testament.
Think about it, who else did something miraculous with water?-Moses!
But we all know God did that and he told Moses to go and hold up his staff and that He would split the Sea!
Jesus didnt need no staff yall!
He just said STOP! and it did because He is Lord over everything that we see.
