Ezekiel 16:1-14

I.                   We Are ALL In the Same Category, Unwanted! 16:1-5

A.                Born of a man and a woman (look at your belly button)

B.                 Born in sin (is anybody here perfect?)

C.                Unwanted by the world and the devil (spiritual life)

II.                God Is the ONLY One Who Desires for Us to Have Eternal Life, 16:6-7.

III.             God Wants to Own Us, When Everyone Else Has Rejected Us, 16:8.

A.                God loved us first! (we needed love above every need)

B.                 We needed to be covered from our sin (Adams 1st declaration).

C.                God made a covenant or promise to us;

D.                Now we belong to God!

IV.             He Washes Us! 16:9a

A.                Through the Word and His Spirit;

B.                 In the blood of Jesus!

V.                He Anoints Us! 16:9b

A.                OT anointing is synonymous with the filling of the Spirit;

B.                 The indwelling of God’s Spirit sets us apart for service!

VI.             He Puts New Clothes on Us! 16:10-13

Clothed in Christ’s righteousness! 2 Cor 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

VII.          He Exalts Us, 16:14

As trophies of His grace! Ephesians 2:4-7

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
