Give Me Faith

We are currently exploring the Gifts of the Spirit on Sunday Mornings.
Word of Wisdom
Word of Knowledge.
Today we will look at the third gift of the Spirit…Faith
1 Corinthians 12:4–11 NKJV
4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
Faith is like a seed. . .plant it in your heart and your mind....at the appointed time it will bloom into a towering oak.
What is Faith?
Google Defines Faith as: complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
Faith: complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
The writer of Hebrews defines faith as:
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:
These are pretty simple definitions of Faith because faith can be a simple subject. However there is another side to this thing we call faith that is extremely complex and mind boggling if we don’t weigh all the scriptures together appropriately.
To be honest I’ve always thought that faith was just faith but after preparing for this message i realize that there are different types of faith.

Saving Faith
Faith is like a seed. . .plant it in your heart and your mind....at the appointed time it will bloom into a towering oak.
Healing/Miracle Faith
Forgiving Faith
Gift of Faith
Saving Faith
Let’s look at Saving Faith
Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Saving faith is that faith that believes in the Son of God and in the promises of God.
Saving Faith is a gift also but it isn’t the same as the gift of Faith Paul mentions in his letter to Corinth.
How can we grow in our faith?
We can grow in our saving faith by spending time in Gods word and in prayer. As we grow in our wisdom and knowledge of who God is we will grow in our confidence of God’s love for us.
Not all Faith is Equal
1 John 5:14–15 NKJV
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Study
Psalm 119:103 NKJV
103 How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm
Jesus Marveled at the Roman Centurions Great Faith and Said that the Canaanite woman had Great Faith.
Jesus only mentioned Great Faith these two times during His entire ministry.
Neither of these people were the chosen people of God, much less keepers of the Law.
This means that we can’t earn our faith by being religious.
Faith is a gift.
We receive a gift by having a right relationship with the giver.
The Power of Faith
Faith is like a seed. . .plant it in your heart and your mind....at the appointed time it will bloom into a towering oak.
Faith Produces peace
Romans 15:13 NKJV
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Faith Encourages yourself
Faith Encourages Others
Faith without works is dead
James 2:14–17 NKJV
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Faith isn’t just believing something exist it is believing IN Something or Someone.
James 2:19 NKJV
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
Matthew 17:14–21 NKJV
14 And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” 17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
The Just shall live by Faith:
Hebrews 10:32–39 NKJV
32 But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: 33 partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; 34 for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. 35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: 37 “For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” 39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
